ronireers'r PRESCRiPTION-FILE.
Application filed February York, have invented certainnenr and useful Improve,
ments in Druggist Prescription-Files, of which the fol-- lowilig is a specification.
The object of the present invention is to provide an improved device for the filing of prescriptions or data slips of a similar nature in such a manner that they can be instantly found when desired and furthermore so that they can be removed bodily from the file and carried from place to place during the filling oi the proscription or similar operation.
To this end the invention \consists essentially of a i emovahly within the case, each of said trays being provided with a spring clip for preventing accident-a1 displacement of the data slips held therein.
Fora. full description of theinvention and the merits thereof and also to acquire a knowledge of the details of construction and the means for effecting the result, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which:
' Figure 1 is a perspective view of a case, some of the trays being shown in position therein. Fig. 2 is a perspective. view of one of the filing trays Fig. 8 is a longitudinal sectional view through the same. Fig. 4 is a perspectiveview of one of the rear corners of the filing tray. .liig. 5 is a perspective view of one of the front corne' rsof the filing tray. Fig. 6 is a similar view show; ing the inethod of bending the parts to form the corners.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in all the views '02 the drawings by the same reference characters.
The filing case indicated at l may he of any conventional construction and is provided with a series of vertical partitions 2, each of which is provi isd with the horizontal grooves or guide ways 3. These grooves 15 are designed to receive-outsiunding flanges 4 upon opl posite sides of the tiling tray 5 in such a manner that the said trays are enabled to have a'sliding movement and can be readily placed in position or removed therefrom when found necessary. The filing case J is preferably providedwith a pair of swinging doors 6 hinged to ripposite sides thereof and normally closing the case to ex.- cludethe dust and protect the filing trays from injury. In the specific construction of the tiling trays 5 the same are preferably formed from a single piece of sheet material and comprise a bottom 7, oppositely disposed I sides 8 the upper edges or which are bent outwardly to form the outstanding flanges 4, and an end 9. lfixtern sions 10ers formed at the rear portions of the sides 8 Specification of Letters Patent.

and these extensions are bent laterally to lie against the rear face of the end 9. The spring clip ll employed to bear against the data slips 12 and hold the same againstaccidental displacement is in the nature of a (I-shaped member, the two arms of which are coiled adjacent the end 9 to form the spiral springs 13 which operate to normally force the clip against the bottom 7 of the filing trays. After being bent to form the said springs 13 the extremities of the two arms of the U- of the end 9, and then pass through the said end and the adjacent extensions 10 when they are bent downwardly against the outer face of. the end 9. It will thus be seen that the extremities of the two arms of tray but also provide a. means whereby the sides 8 of the tray are secured to the end thereof.
The front of each of the filing trays is cut away at its middle portion and the two ends 14 thereof are of a less height than the sides 8 in order to facilitate theremoval or placing in position of the prescriptions or data slips 12. provided with tags 15 designed to receive the numbers of the data slips within the tray; the ,said data slips being numbered consecutively before being filed. The bottom 7 is also cut away as indicated at 16 adjacent the front of the tray in order toprovide clearance space the data slips in order to locate the slip bearing the desired number.
consecutively with the prescriptions or data slips and are then replaced in their respective positions within the filing case 1. "When employed by druggists for the the tray being tilled can remain upon the desk and that the various prescriptions can be readily inserted under the spring clip ll as received. thereby obviating likelihood of loss and reducing the labor of indexing and t ling to minimum At the some time the various prescriptions are so tiled that any one of them can be instantly located when desired and can be removed bodily from the filing tray and carried from place to sirublc. removing one of the prescriptions it is desirable that the prescription immediately below be slightly dis- I placed in order to facilitate the replacing oi the said prescription.
instead of forming the filing tray by bonding as heretofore described, the same may be stamped from sheet material or formed in any other conventional 1 manner.
In the present instance these front portions 14 are to enable the thumb to readily run over the edges of In using the filing device the various trays 5 are filled place during the lillingof the prescription iiiound de In this connection it. might be'stated that in shaped clip ll extend downwardly along the inside the clip 11 not only serve to secure the clip to the filing filing of prescriptions it will be readily apparent-that 2 s'zlpse Having thus described the invention," what is claimed as new is: a
i. -In a device of the character described, the combination of :1 tray comprising an end and sides, and a spring clip carried by the tray and normally pressing toward the bottom thereof, the said spring clip serving as a means for cunnectim. the sides and ends of the tray,
2. In a device of the character described, the eombination of a tray comprising sides and an end, the sides carrying extensions bearing against the end, and a spring clip secured to the end and also serving as a means for fasten.- ing the before mentioned extensions to the end.
3. I a device oi the c 'acter described, the combina tion of a tray comprising s.ies and an end. the said sides carrying extensions fitting agninst the end, and a 'U' shaped spring clip. the opposite arms of which are secured in the end of the tr v and aiso.'serve as a means for securing the before mentioned side extensions to the said end.
i. in a device of the character described, the combinapass through the end and the said extensions, and then,
extend downwardly on the opposite face of the end.
In In a device of the character described, the eoinbina tion of a filing ease'formed' with a series of spaced partitions provided with corresponding guide ways, a series of filing trays provided with outstanding flanges fitting within the guide ways, each of said trays comprising an end and sides, and a spring clip carried by each of the trays and serving as a means for fastening the sides to the end. In testimony whereofwe aifix our signature in presence of two witnesses. I
