Description
PATENTED 001*. 29. 1907. J. J. BAXTER. POCKET DOOR LOOK. APPLICATION FILED AUG.11,1906.
m T N E V m UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.-
JOHN J. BAXTER, OF ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA.
FCCKF-T DOOR-LOCK.
Application filed August 11.
To all whom it may tJOVItJtI'iL.
Be it known that l, Jens .l. BAXTER. a citizen oi the United States. residing at Erie. in the (onnty of Erie and State of Pennsylvania. have invented a new and useful improvement in a Poeket Door-Lock. ol' whieln the following is a spet-ilieat ion.
This invention re ates to door lot-ks and more particularly to poeket door lUtJks. the objei-t being to provide a look which can be readily earried in the pocket and one whit-h (an be easily and quit-kl adjusted to the door. so as to serure the same without any danger ol' it being unt'astened l'roin the outside.
Another objeet oi my invention is to provide the lot-k with a plate adapted to tit over the teeth anti protet't the same while earrying it, in the pocketv With these objects lll view the invention ttonsists in the novel features oi construction t-ombination and arrangement of parts, hereinal'ter lully deseribed and pointed out, in the ('lzlllllS.
1n the drawings forming a part of this speeitir-ationr- Figure 'l is a perspet-t ive view of a portion of a door and [mine showing my llllpt'ovetl lot-k in plate. Fig. 2 is a lransvtrrse set-tional view of the door t'r-.une and edge of door showing my improved look applied. perspeetive view ol my improved look. Fig. l is a top plan view oi the look. Fig. 5 is a perspet'tive view oi the lot-k showing the plates opened.
.ln the drawing A. 13. U. .l) and l) indit'ate live nietal plates pivoted together at one end by a rivet, Ft lortning my improved ltlt'k. The plate ll is formed with a right, angled end ll", provided with teeth adapted to be entbedded into the doorjainb (i and has a in; l5", punched out adjacent its end \Vlllt'll extends out parallel to the I Fig. ll is a Specification of Letters Patent.

end B. and is adapted to engage the frame and prevent the plate B, front being shoved too iarin between the door and janilo. The plate l is shorter than the plate I) and has its end bent outwardly to form a t-nrved bearing ineinher l5, adapted to be swung around against the door ll and seeurely look the door. A lug E projects outwardly from the upper edge oi the plate E so that it can be readily pulled out of engagement with the door when desired 'lhe plates U and l) are also shorter than the plate ll and are provided with enrved ends so that. either one or both-ol' them (an be readily swung around between the jainb and door when the t-rat-k is large between the door and janib, so as to hold the leeth oi the plate 1%. into the janib. The plale A is bent outwardly and forwardly midway its lining adapted to lit over the lug ll. and teeth of the angled end B when the lot-k is carried in the pot-liet. so as to proteet the same.
Front the foregoing dest-ription it will be readily seen that I have provided a very novel lot-k whieh ean be readily (-arried in the pocket without injuring the same, and one which ("an be easily and quit-kly atlat-hed to any door.
llaving thus lully deseribed my invention. what I elaim as new and desire tosel-ure by Letters Patent is:
The combination with a plate having a toothed angled end. and an outwardly projecting hearing lug. of plates pivolall v ('Hllllttittl to said plate. a plate pivotally eonlllt'ittl to said plates provided with a curved hearing nteinln-r at its end. and a plate having an angled end pi\'- oted to the plate having the toothed angled end adapted to lit over said teeth and lug. for the purpose lltStl'lllttl.
- -.lt)ll. l .l. HAX'IlGli.
