Description

N. PETERS, PHOTmLJTHOGRAPHEH, WASHINGTON. Dv c.
Staind 5mm DANIEL sHERWoOD, 0F LOWELL, MAssAcHUsETTsAssiGNoR TO WOODS, SHERWOOD 9.:
CO., OF SAME PLACE.;
Lette/rs` Patent No. 86,463, dated Februar/ry 2, 1869.
IRCPRQV'ED TABLE-CASTER. r-MM* -The Schedule referred' to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern: v
Be it known that I, DANIEL SHERWooD, of the city of Lowell, in the county of Middlesex, and, State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and improved Table-Caster; and Ido hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, referenceibeing had tothe accompanying drawings,
. in which- Figure l is a perspective view. Figures 2 and 3, detail views. Similar letters of reference indicate like parts in all the drawings.
My invention relates to' table-casters, and consists in making a caster of twisted wire, and so uniting the various parts, that I am enabled to make a strong and beautiful article of table-furniture ata very low cost.
To enable others skilled in the art to make my im- Y proved caster, I will describe `the construction 'of the same.
A A represent: the uprights which form the handle and legs., v B B B are the rings which hold the bottles.
C is a plate pressed out by dies of the form show n in iig. 3, byl means of which the rings and frame are firmly united together.
The parts AfA', which form the legs, are first twisted up of Wire of the desired length, and the two are again twisted together to form the eye orhandle D.
The bottle-rings B B are made of twisted wire, and
bent in circular shape.
The rings are secured to the plate by the ears b b on the plate, which are made to grasp them. The lgs are then inserted in the holes c c in the plate, the desired distance, and the ears b b bent down, and the legs are b secured to the plate by a wie'gripe passing through two small holes inthe ear. I
d d, c. a are ornamental pieces, in spiral form, made of twisted wire, which areA soldered to the legs. l The whole is then dipped in molten metal, and thereby soldered and tinued at one operation.
It will be obvious that a caster thus ,made isvery strong. The parts composing it are few, and the labor upon the same is slight, and the article is produced at a ccst within the reachof' all.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim, as a new and improved article of manufacture, a table-caster constructed of twisted wire united I together, substantially as described and specied.
. DANIEL SHEBWOOB.
