The left-hand switch-blade 50 is similar to the righthand except that one of the hub plates 51 is provided with a peripheral recess for the reception of the free end of the finger 46 of the crank plate. The switchblades 49 and 50 are held upon the shaft 40 by split washers 52 sprung into the. grooves 41 In order to insure the engagement of the shoulders 30.w'ith the stop projections 17 guides 53 are arranged adjacent the latter which cooperate with cam surfaces 54 on the inner edges-oi the arms 29.
The operation of my device is as follows: Assuming the parts to be in the position shown in Fig. 3 with the left-hand shoulder 30 of the locking plate in engagernent with the left-hand stopor projection 17, then, by pressing down upon the right-hand button 33, the actuating lever 26 is caused to move clockwise and its finger 34 carries the end 39 of the-spring 37 to the right, while the opposite end 38 is held by the finger 46 of the crankplate 43 which is locked against movement by its engagement with the locking plate 25. As the shoulder 35 on the actuating lever 26 approaches the left-hand stop 17 it forces the bent arm 29 inwardly and finally frees the shoulder 30 from epgagement with the lefthand stop, whereupon' the locking plate 25 is released and moves clockwise under the recoil of the spring 37 carrying the switch- blades 49 and 50 and crank plate 43 into the position shown in Fig. 2 where they-are brought to rest by the engagement of the crank plate finger 46 with the right-hand shoulder 19 oi the supporting bracket. When itis desired to move the switch-hlades into closed position the left-hand button 33 is pressed upon and a corresponding series of operations take place in the opposite direction.
