At a location suitably beyond that of the last mentioned tuck formers or folders and relatively to which the table with the folding box and nearly wrapped piece therein are brought, is a reciprocatory gummer K having separated depending gummer members in conjunction with which gum supplying mechanism L is provided; and said gummer is operable to straddle about the piece so far wrapped, as shown in Figs. 13 and 14, and to deposit patches of adhesive on the remaining unfolded endwiseprojecting bottom portions of the wrapper, as shown in Fig; 15, so that when these gummed portions of the wrappers are foldedagainst the ends of the package the wrapper will be stuck and thereby-secured in its closed condition.

ofsaid circular frame section, provided with .a plurality of upwardly open trough shaped folding boxes at regularly spaced intervals I therearound, means for impartingintermittent progressive movements to the table and boxes, means for bringing a wrapper adjacent a given position to which each folding box is successively brought bythe table, across the topofthe box, and further and respective means supported by the machine frame, independently of the rotary table and relatively to which each folding box on the latter is successively moved, for forcing the wrapper and piece ontothe folding box, upturning the wrapper sides, horizontally folding the opposite portions of the wrapper upstanding above the folding ;b'ox horizontally onto the piece, downwardly-folding portions of the wrapper horizontally projecting endwise beyond the piece againstthe end of the latter, and inwardly tucking opposite side portions of the wrapperendwise projecting beyond the piece againstthe-end'o'f the latter.

In a Wrappin machine, the combination with a rotary tsible having a folding box, of a horizontal slide 1G} cam operating and spring retracting mechanism for reciprocating said slide in a plane a proximately coinci-' dent with the top of t-e folding box, and 1 means for imparting intermittent-rotational movements to the table to position the foldl ing box thereon in cooperative relation to vmovements imparted thereto in conjunction with the movements of the plunger frame.

In a wrapping machine the combination with a rotary table having a troughshaped folding box thereon, of a vertically reciprooatory plunger frame provided with a depending plunger having separated lower members, a pair oftransversely ,slidable wrapper folders oppositely operable adjacent and transversely of the path of movement of the folding box on the progressive table, a rotary shaft having a cam thereon and a cam rod engaged therewith and connected to one of said slidable folders, and a bar pivotally connected to the plunger frame and to the other .Of said slidable folders and having a toggle-like action imparted thereto by the reciprocatory -movements of the plunger frame.
22. In a Wrappingmachine the combination with an intermittently movable table,
having thereon an upwardly open folding box constructed with pairs of apertures through its opposite sides, of oppositely operable slide bars having separated tucking folders movable'through the apertured sides of the folding box, and means for imparting reciprocating movements to said slide bars.
23. The combination with an intermittently rotatable table provided with a' plurality of trough-shaped folding boxes thereon, each having a pair of apertures through each side thereof, of a vertically reciprocatory plunger frame provided with a depending plunger H recessed at its lower end, a pair df'slidable folders oppositely operable transversely of the length of one folding box and near the planeof the top thereof, an oppositely operable pair of tucking folders at the position of another of the boxes and having separated folding members arranged for movements through pairs of said apertures, cam actuated means for respectively operating the slidable folders which are at one side of the path of movement of the folding boxes, and means actuated by the plunger frame for actuating the slidable folders which are at the other side of the path of the boxes.

In a wrapping machine the combination with a rotary table having a folding box constructed with an apertured bottom, and a tom, of a cam relatively to which the box and its slide are brought by the table operable. to force the slide to bringits recessed portion coincident with the folding box aperture, and means operable adjacent a portion to which the box is moved foi' forcing the piece therein downwardly through the opened apertured bottom thereof.
28, In a wrapping machine, the combination with a rotary table having a folding box constructed with an apertured bottom,and a slide, providedto the foldin box, having an aperture, and normally closing the box bottom, of a cam relatively to which the box and its slide are brought by the table oper-- able to force the slide to bring its recessed portion coincident with the folding box aperture, and means beyond the location of said cam, and relatively to which the box is moved, for imparting a bottom-closing movement to said slide.
