IMPROVEMENT IN CORN-PLANTERS.
Thcheduie referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the sama To all whom 'it may conce/m Be it known that I, JOHN ELBERTsoN, of Kirksville, in the eounty of Adair, and State of Missouri, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Corn-Planters; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the oonstruotion and operation of the saine, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and gures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1, of the drawings, is a representation of a sectional viewvof my improvement, and

My invention relatesI to that class of corn-planters in which the seed is planted by hand, the machine being used like a pedestrians c ane.
The chief obieot of my invention is to provide a more perfect bottom for the hopper vof a hand cornlplanter than has heretofore been known, and it is designed as an improvement upou'my corn-planter, patented May 12, 1868.
The letter a,vof the drawings, represents the wooden bottom of the hopper, and
Letter b is the opening therein.
Letter e is a plate, of metal or other suitable material, adjusted andv curved in the manner shown, and
Letter dis a spring, adapted thereto, as represented.
The office of this plate is to out-off from the seed that falls into the seed-box in the cylinder all kernels stitute for the brushheretofore in use, for the purposes aforesaid.
