Description

No. 856,013. I PATENTED JUNE 4, 1907.
' e. AJELLO.
ARMORED CEMENT 0R CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION.
APPLICATION FILED AUG.29. 1906.
GAETAN AJELLO, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
ARMORED CE MENT OR CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION.
Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed Aug nest 29,1906. Serial No. 332,413.
Patented June 4, 1907.
To all /1 w/wm it may concern:
Be it known that I, GAETAN AJELLO, a resident 'of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Armored Cement or Concrete Construction, of
-hollow block, and 4 the beam. s rut-tion of thegirder and beam is the same with the exception that the girder is the i which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in armored or reinforced cement or concrete construction,.and has for its object a novel and unique manner of construction and arranging the stirrups and tension bars. The construction and arrangement being such as to do away with all surplus steel and provide a simple vet durable and efficient construc tion which can be produced at considerable less expense than any method now in use.
In brief, my invention consists in the particular construction of the various parts, and in the combination and arrangement thereof, all of which will be hereinatter fully described and specifically pointed out in the ap- )cndcd claims, which are intended to accord m their terms, spirit and meaning with the prior state of the art and the existing law.
In the drawings forming a part of this specification: Figure 1, is a perspective view partly in section illustrating a portion of a structure comprising a girder and the floor. showingmy improved stirrup as applied. Fig. 2. is a vertical sectional view of a portion of a iloor, illustrating the application of my i improved stirrup; and Fig. 3, is a side elevation of the stirrup.
Referring by mnnerals to the drawings, 1 represents a girder, 2 the floor slain-3 the The conlargcr, accordingly the description of one is applicable to the other.
The girder and beams are termed with a ,series of tension bars 5, which are embedded in. the concrete intermediate the blocks 4, These tension bars are supported-by my improved stirrup 6, consisting of a U-shaped bar having outwardly and downwardly diverging arms 7, the free ends of which rest upon the upper surfaces of the blocks and thereby suport the said bars at the desired distance trom the bottom face of the girder or beam as the case may be.
It will be seen that a stirrup constructed in such a manner will so support the tension bars that they will not be displaced in the filling or laying of the floor.
I- leem the foregoing explanation sufii ciently plain that theinvention Willbe readily understood by all conversant in such matters, the extreme simplicity rendering an elaborate description unnecessary.
Having thus described the various features of my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. in an invention of the class described, a flooring comprising hollow blocks and ten sion bars, a stirrup consisting of a bar, provided with a central loop supporting said tension bars, said stirrup having outwardly and downwardly diverging arms restingupon the upper surfaces of the blocks, and cement inc-asing the whole substantially as specified.
'1. In an invent on of the class described, a flooring comprising a series of hollow blocks. tension bars intermediate said blocks, a stirrup supporting said tension bars, said stirrup having outwardly and downwardly diverging arms the free cnds of which engage the upper surfaces of the said blocks, and cement mcasing the whole, substantially as specified.
