Be it known that l, Ronnn'r .ilARVEY Mcf DOWELL, a citizen of the United States, re-- Q siding at Alliance, in the county of Stark and State of-Ohio, have invented a newaud useful lm rovement in an Automatic Electrical Cut-O of which the following is o specification.
This invention relates to en nutonmtic cutoff or circuit breaker, for use in connection with a purifier and filter, described in s sepsrste application, and combines a valve cut oil, for controlling the discharge of s fluid from a filtering cheinber end'the simultaneone making and breaking of an electrical circuit.
In the purifier and filter with which this invention is used the liquid before being passed to the filtering chamber is subjected to the action of an electric-til circuit and such actionif maintained,will result in the boiling of the water and injury to the filtering stone em loycd in the filter.

It will be noted from Fig. 2 that one of the binding posts H is in electrical contact with the contact plate H and the other binding post H is in contact with the semi-circular ring H The parts are so assembled that 1 when the handle E is thrown into such a position that the valve C is drawn to its seat, each of the s aces between the plate H and H will be bridged by the insulating strip G but whenever the handle is turned so as to move the valve C away from its seat, the contact plate G will be in engagement with the plate H and at least one of the end portions of the contact plate H bridging one of the sp ices between the contact plates H and H tllLs completin the circuit between the two binding posts If.
It will be obvious that the rod H not only serves as a support for the disk H but also prevents rotation of the same when the disk G is rotated. In operation whenever a liquid is bein drawn from the filter an electrical circuit will be'established between the bindingposts H and acurrent will be permitted to pass over the conductors H to certain electrodes in a purifying chamber which electrodes, together with the electrical circuit are shown and described in a separate application.
' It will be further noted that the wire H is connected to the body of the filter and that the movable member of the switch is carried by the faucet or bib, and'the latter is carried by the top or cover of the filter. When therefore the top of the filter is removed the stationary part of the switch to which the wires are connected is not disturbed by removing either the top of the filter or the faucet.
' Having thus fullydescribed my'invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

21A device of the kind described comprising a-faucet, a valve, a valve stem, said faucet having a covered projection, a shaft therein having a reduced portion extending into the body of the faucet, a stem carried by the shaft, a handle thereon, an angled shaft connected at its upper end eccentrically to the shaft end, the an' led shaft extending downwardly through t e lower wall of the faucet, the valve stem being pivoted to said angled shaft, and electrical circuit making and breaking means operatively connected to the lower end of the angled shaft.

A device of the kind described comprising a switch having a stationary-portion, a cut contact ring carried thereby, a contact plate arranged between the ends of the ring and spaced therefrom, a rotatable disk having a segmental contact plate adapted to slide upon the outer face of the contact plate carried by the fixed, portion, a dischar 'e faucet having a valve therein, a cranksha t having one end connected to the rotatable disk, a valve stem pivotally connected to the angled portion of the shaft, and means for rotating said shaft.
