and to provide'a simple and comparatively inexpensive watering device adapted to enable a considerable amount of water to be maintained at a temperature above freezing in the coldest Weather at the'expenditure of. a comparatively small amount of heat,
A further object of the invention is to'provide a hog-waterer of this character adapted to afford animals a clean drink at all times and capable of preventing the water from being fouled or wasted.
-With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in. the accompanying'drawings, and pointed out in the claims hereto appended,'it being understood that v various changes in the form, proe portion, size, and minor details of construction within thescope of the claims may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the in vention. i
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a hog-waterer constructed in accordance with this invention, Fig. 2 is a plan View of the same. .Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view. Fig. 4 is a detail perspective view of the trough.

1 designates an outer wooden or metallic jacket of rectangular or other form and provided at the top with a hinged cover or lid 2. Within the jacket is arranged acylindrical tank 3 of suitable sheet metal. The tank is spaced from the top, bottom, and walls of the jacket to provide an intervening air-space, which enables the tank to be enveloped'in warm air, whereby the tank isrendered easy to heat. Also the intervening air-space between the jacket and the tank prevents rapidv radiation of heat from the tank. The tank may be supported by suitable brackets 3 3 and within the space 4 between the bottom of the tank and the bottom of the jacket is 7 arranged a gasolcne-hurner 5, which is supl plied with gasolen'e from an exterior tank 6 througha pipe or tube 7.
| The jacket-is provided with air inlet and outi let openings 8 and 9 to permit the passage .or tube 7, which is composed of vertical and horizontal portions, is rovided with a valve 10 for controlling the ow of gasolene. The vertical and horizontal portions are connected at their adjacent ends by. a T-coupling 11, having vertical arms. A removable plug 12 is screwed into the lower arm of the T-coupling and is adapted to be removed, whereby the gasolene may be drained from the tank or the jacket. The gasolene tank or reservoir is preferably secured to the jacket by means of metal straps or hands 13, which embrace the tank or reservoir 6 at the upper and lower portions thereof.
0n the exterior of the jacket is secured a trough 14,- constructed of galvanized iron or other suitable material and connected with 15, which pierces the adjacent wall of the tank 3 and which extends through the jacket and through the inner wall of the trough. The pipe or nipple 15 is threaded-for the re-- ception of nuts 16 and 17, arranged in pairs. The nuts 16 engage the wall of. the tank 3, a 'suitable rubber gasket 18 being provided to prevent leakage from the tank into the space between the same and the outer jacket. The outer pair of nuts engage the jacket and the trough, and a rubber gasket 19 is provided to prevent leakage at the outer portion of the nipple or tube 15.
The trough, which is tapered downwardly, is open at the top, and it is composed of a back 20, a .downwardl and inwardl inclined front 21', and tape'rmg sides 22. A. liorizontal partition-23 is arrangedwithin the trough at an intermediate point to form the bottom of the upper space, or compartment, into which the sho'rt-tubeor nipple 15 discharges.
