Be it known that I, HERMAN GUNN, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Grand Forks, county of Kootenay, in the Province of British Columbia, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gun-Sights; and I do hereby de- Clare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the saine.

My invent-ion relates to sights for iirearms.

The Object of my invention is to provide a rotatable sight with a plurality of verticallyrockable tips of dififerent shapes and colors, so that any one of a variety of tips may be quickly used without the necessity of removing the whole sight from the firearm; and my invention consists of the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, as herein illustrated, described, and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this application, I have illustrated one 'form of embodiment of my invention, in which drawings similar reference characters designate corresponding parts, and in which- Figure 1 is a plan view. Fig. 2 is a side elevation. Fig. 3 is a transverse vertical section on line 3 3 of Fig. 2 looking in the direction. indicated by the arrow. Fig. 4 is a fragmentary detail, in enlarged section, illustrating the spring-locking means for the tips and Fig. 5 is a longitudinal vertical section taken approximately on line 5 5 of Fig. 1, illustrating the stop mechanism of the sight.

Referring to the drawings, 1 designates a barrel of a firearm, having disposed thereon an ordinary form of dovetailed sight-block 2` The sight-block 2 is provided with a horizontal iiange 3, having a lug 4 on its forward end. The lug 4 is provided with a horizontal recess 5, having an annular shoulder 5a. Disposed in the recess 5 and adapted to thrust at one end against the shoulder 5a is a helical spring 6, through which is disposed. -a plunger 7, having a nut 8 on its forward end and having a head 9 on its rear end adapted to receive the thrust of one end of the spring 6. The rear end of the head 9 is provided with a pointed portion 10, adapted. to engage the peripheral recesses 11, formed in the outer face of a rotatable tip-plate 12, carried by the iiange 3 of the sight-block 2. The rotatable tip-plate 12 is provided with a central recess 18', adaptedto receive the head 14 of a securing-screw 15, which works into the dovetailed sight-block 2. Instead of the resilient means for forcing the head 9 into engagement with the tip-plate 12 the plunger 6 may be screw-threaded in engagement with the lug 4.

The tip-plate 12 is provided with an inner annular shoulder 16, Fig. 3, in which are formed vertical recesses 17, adapted to leave the projecting shoulders 18. Springs 19 are seated in each of the recesses 17 and are adapted to bear against the shoulders 2() of the tips 21, which. are carried on the pivotal supports 22, which supports are disposed through the shoulders 18.

In the operation of the invention the tipplate 12 is centered by means of the screw 15, and any desired kind of sight may be .rocked vertically to the position shown in Fig. 2 and the tip-plate locked withany particular sight upturned by means of the mechanism described, there being a recess 11 opposite the center of each of the tips. It will thus be seen that any desired form of sight may be used without detaching any part of the apparatus from the barrel of the firearm.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- 1. In combination with a sight-block, a plate, means for securing the plate to the sight-block, and a plurality of sight-tips pivoted to the plate.

2. In combination with a sight-block, a rotatable plate, means for rotatably securing the plate to the sight-block, and a plurality of sight-tips pivoted to the plate.

3. In combination .with a sight-block, a plate rotatably disposed on the sight-block, means for limiting the rotation of the plate, and a plurality of sight-tips pivoted to the plate.

4. In combination with a sight-block, a horizontally-disposed rotatable plate carried by the block, a plurality of tips pivoted to the plate and adapted to be moved vertically, and means for locking the tips against movement.

5. In combination with a sight-block provided with. a flange having a lug thereon, a rotatable plate disposed on the iange, a movable stop carried by the lug and adapted to engage the plate, and a plurality of pivoted sight-tips carried by the plate.

7. In combination with a sight-block provided with a flange having a lug thereon formed with a recess leaving a shoulder, a rotatable plate disposed on the flange, a stop member disposed through tle recess and the lug and provided with a head adapted to engage the plate, a spring disposed around the stop and adapted to thrust against said head and against the shoulder of said recess, and a purality of pivoted sight-tips carried by the ate.

In combination with a sight-block having a iiange provided with a lug, a rotatable plate carried by the iiange and provided With recesses in its exterior Wall, a stop member carried by the lug and provided With a pointed end adapted to engage in said recesses, means for forcing the pointed end into said recesses, and a plurality of movable tips carried by the plate.

9. In combination With a sight-block, a

rotatable plate carried by the sight-block, a plurality of different shaped and colored sight-tips pivoted to the plate, and means for limitin the movement of the plate.

10. n combination with a sight-block, a rotatable plate carried by the sight-block and provided With a plurality of recesses, a plurality of tips pivotally disposed in the recesses, means for locking the tips in a plurality of positions, and means for limiting the rotary movement of the plate.

11. In combination with a sight-block, a

resilient members seated in the recesses and adapted to contact with the sight-tips, and means for limiting the movement of the plate.

' 13. In combination with a sight-block, a plate disposed on tle sight-block and provided With a recess, a screw disposed through the plate having its head seated in said recess and its end in engagement with the sightblock, and a plurality of pivoted sight-tips carried by the plate.

14. In combination With a sight-block, a rotatable'plate provided with recesses in its exterior Wall, locking means adapted to engage in the recesses, and a different shaped and colored sight-tip pivoted to the interior face of the Wall of the plate opposite each recess in its exterior Wall.

15. In combination With a sight-block, a rotatable plate provided With an annular shoulder having recesses cut vertically therein to leave projecting shoulders, pins carried by said latter shoulders, sight-tips pivoted on said pins, and means for locking tle sighttips in a horizontal and a vertical position.
