To all whom 'itA may renown:

Be it known that I, JOSEPH .ELLENBER'GEQ of Easton, in the oouutyof Vayne, and in the State of hio, have invented certain newand useful Improvement s in ,Post-Drivers; and do hereby declare that the' fol.- Iowing isa full, clear, and'exaet description thereof', reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and the letters of reference marked thereon.

In the annexed drawings, making a part of this speoiiicationy v A represents the runners, upon which are secured horizontal beams or sills, B B, by'means of the screwsA bolts h h.

'-1 The sills B B form a suitable base, into whichare framed posts, O C, made of any suitable length, and held firm at their upper end by suitable fiume-work'. The four posts G C are set at a slight angle, inclining toward each-other at the top, as shownin the drawings. 1 Suspended to the cross-bar D, by means of a suitable hook and loop, are swinging or yibrating ways or guidesK K, between which the grooved weight R works.

' The guides K K are held at the top by means of a suitable eross-bar, and at the bottoni by means of a metallic band or stay,m1, made so that the weight R may pass between and through the sides of the same.

A pulley, g, isadjnsted between the upper ends of the guides K K, over which the cord f passes from the Weight R to the winding-pulley L, the said cord f being secured to each, as shown.

I represents a shaft, secured to the posts G O, having the winding-pulley L secured to it, and at one end a crank orf-pulley, to which power may b e applied.

The weight R is provided with grooves ou opposite sides, in which fit the inner side or edges of the 'guides K K, so 'as to holdand guide ,the same H representsv a horizontal beam, provided with a l notch in its centre, in which fits the lower end'of the guides K K, and provided'withj set-screws jj, so as to be adjustable in any position.

The frame or device, above described, may be drawn Aon its runnexsA A to any plaee desired, and the guides K K, being suspended from the top of the frame, as-

sume a vertical position. The lower 'end of the sus-- pended guides are thenrigidly by means of the adjustable bearnA H, with vitssetfserews jj, and the machine is set up, -and ready for work;`
