To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I,- HENRY Smonns, a citizen of the United States, residingat Longbeach, in the, county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Im' rovements in Acetylene- Controllers; and I. do deto be a full, clear, and ex: act description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
Gas Generators an his invention relates to acetylene-gas generators and controllers; and one of the principal objects of the same is to provide simple, reliable, and efficient means for automatically feeding carbid to the v gulatin the feeding of the carbid by the actlon of t e gasometer-bell in the gasometer. This and other;objects are attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation and partial section of a generator and gasometer made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is an.
enlarged sectional view of the carbid-feed valve, and Fig. 3 is a detail view and partial section of the mechanism for operating the carbid-feed valves.
Referring to the drawings for a more particular description of my invention, the numeral 1 designates the generator-tank, which is provided with a conical bottom 2, having a discharge outletepipe 3 leading from the lower end thereof out through the wall 4 and provided with a valve 5, adapted to be actuated by automatic means. for discharging the residuum 'or spent carbid at certain intervals-dependent upon the condition of gaspressure in the. gasometer, as will presentlyappear. A partition 6 is formed near the upper end of the generator, and a gas-outlet c amber 7, having a closed upper end, extends into the' partition 6.
