- My invention relates to automatic switches or breakers for electric circuits; and its object is to provide a novel form of locking and tripping devices for such switches, which is exceedingly simple in construction and reliable in action.
My invention will best be understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 shows a side elevation of a circuitbreaker provided with a tripping device an ranged in accordance with my invention.
Fig-I 2 shows a similar view oi the circuit breaker at the instant of opening, and Figs. 3 and 4 show detailed views of: the locking evice.
In the drawings, A represents the operating-handle by means of which the switch is closed. This handle is pivoted to the outer end of the links B, the inner end of which is pivoted at b to the switch-support. Handle A is also pivotally connected to the contact carrying member C, one end of which is also pivoted at c to the support. The member 0 is provided with. a step c, of yielding material, such as rubber, adapted to be engaged by the handle A to limit the movement of the switch when opened, as shown in Fig. 2.
