Be it/,kn'own that I, JAMES A. SUTHERLAND, ofElmwood, in the county of Peoria,and State of Illinois, have invented a new and improved Horse-Collar; and I do hereby declare the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon. v

This horse-collar is made of wood, formed and curved into Vthe shape represented inthe drawings, and tted to the neck and shoulders of the horse. It is constructed in two sections or parts, the .upper section, A A, being so formed as to restfupon the withers of the horse, and extend down upon-either side even with the breast. This collar is used without haines, the collar itself supplying the place of the same, by having the various parts of the harness, usually connected with the hames, joined tothe collar.
