To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ANTON C. EGGERS, acitizen of the United States, residing in New York, in the borough of Brooklyn and State of New York, have invented certain new and .useful Improvements in a Combined Toilet Article, of which the following is a specification.

This inventionrelates to a toilet article.

Combinations of hair-brushes, mirrors, and combs have been made heretofore, but without meeting with practical success, being; rather cumbersome and inconvenient in use.

The object of this invention is to avoid these defects and to provide a device of this kind in which the toilet articles referred toare combined in a particularly compact and convenient manner and in which such articles may be used independently of each other. With these and other ends in view the invention consists in a'device which embodies the novel features and combinations of parts which will be particularly described hereinafter and finally pointed out inthe claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a'toilet article or kit embodying the invention. Fig. 2 is a vortical longitudinal section of the same on line 2 2, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a perspective view ofthedevice for interclamping the-mirror and brush, showing the comb positioned therein. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the mirror shown as detached from the otherpartsof the device. Fig. 5 is aperspective view of the brush proper, and Fig. 6 is a vertical transverse section on line 6 6, Fig. 1.

Referring to the drawings, A denotes a hair-brush such as used in carrying out my invention, which is preferably of the usual type, with the exception that the back and handle thereof are rabbeted throughout their peripheries in such a manner as to form a marginal or peripheral seat a. Upon the back of the brush A is fitted face down a mirror B, having a peripheral flange a. engaging the seat a and of the form shown in Fig. 4, said mirror conforming throughout to the cont-our of the brush and carrying upon its face a mirror proper, B The mirror B is provided with a recess (1, extending longitudinally thereof from the mirror proper, B to the ends of the handle B, as shown in Fig. 4. lni'order to interclamp the brush and mirror,

a hold er 0 is employed, which is provided with a socket adapted to be snugly fitted over the ends of the handles A B of the brush and mirror, respectively, as shown in Fig.1. This holder 0 is furthermore provided with an interior auxiliary'holder C, forming a socket, which is adapted to receive the end of a comb D in such a manner that when said holder C is slipped over the handles of the brush and mirror the comb D extends inwardly between said brush and mirror, fitting in the handle-recess d of the latter, as shown in Fig. 2, and extending over the rear face of the mirror B which is spaced from its back, as shown. The holder 0 is preferably made of spring metal in order to exert a firm clamping action on the handles of the brush and mirfor and to thus serve, in connection with the marginal rabbet-joint, to detachably retain these parts in fixed relation. The holder C, in which the comb is positioned, is also preferably formed. of spring metal in order to exert a clamping action upon the comb and firmly hold the same in its seat.

When the parts are assembled, as shown in Fig. 1, the device may be used as a brush in the usual manner, as will be readily understood. When it is desired to use the mirror, the holder C is slipped from the handles A and B, so that said mirror is released and can be held in one hand, while the other hand is used forholding the brush. In being withdrawn from the handles of the brush and mirror the holder 0 carries with it the comb D, and the latter may then be used with said holder, forming a handle therefor, or it may be withdrawn from its socket in said holder. When it is desired to replace the parts, it is simply necessary to superpose the mirror face down upon the back of the brush and then to interclamp the said parts by fitting the clamping-holder over the handles, the comb, which has previously been inserted into said holder, being inserted at the same time into the recess upon the front face of the mirror-handle, and thus positioned between the mirror and brush.

All the parts can be readily separated and reassembled, and a very convenient combination toilet device is provided, which may be used either on the toilet-table or especially when traveling. The device is extremely compact, neat in appearance, and the different constituent parts may be used independengy as conveniently as the separate articles.

In a toilet-kit, the combination of a brush provided with a handle, an independent mirror seated upon the back of said brush and likewise providedwith a handle, said mirror and its handle conforming throughout to the contour of said brush and the handle thereof, and a single independent device for detachably retaining said parts in fixed relation.

2. A device such as described embodying a hair-brush provided with a handle, a mirror seated upon the back of said brush, and likewise provided with a handle, and a springmetal holder detachably fitting over said handles and interclamping the same.

A device such as described comprising a hair-brush provided with a handle and having upon its back a marginal seat extending throughout the edge of the same and said handle, a mirror likewise having a handle and provided with a corresponding marginal flange engaging said seat, and a single device fitting over said handles for detachably clampin together said mirror and brush.

A device such as described comprising a hair-brush provided with a handle, a mirror likewise provided with a handle and seated upon the back of said brush by means of a marginal rabbet-joint extending throughout the edges or peripheries of said brush and mirror and the handles thereof, and means for interclamping said parts.

The combination, with a brush provided with a handle, of a mirror seated upon the back of said brush and likewise provided with a handle, the handle of said mirror being provided upon its lower face with a longitudinally-extending recess, a device for interclamping said handles embodying a socket fitting over the ends of the same and a comb seat or holder within said socket, and a comb held in said comb-seat and fitting in said recess.
