HENRY O. SISOO, OE ANDERSON, H. L. lVHLLSPAUGrl-l` SEAL FOR STOP-COCKS- Patented May 29, 1906.
No. 822,025. Specication of Letters Patent.
Application filed July 31,1905. Serial No. 272,060.
herein, where a single piece of metal is bent To al?, whom, it may concern:
a l into the rectangular form of the head B of Be 'it known that I, HENRY Q. Sisoo,
citizen of the United States, residing at Anthe stop-cock and provided at each side with ders'on, in the'county of'Madison, State of a horizontally-extending portion C', projectlndiana, have invented certain new and usel ing beneath the head A and secured thereto,
ful Improvements in Seals for Stop-Cocks, of if desirable, for instance, by means o the inwhich the following is a specification, referturned stiffening portion A" to overlap the ence being had therein to the accompanying ortion C The opposite ends of this cap are folded upon themselves, thus completely inclosing and protecting the head of the stop-cock.
The invention is applied by simply slipping the cap and stirrup over .the cock and head and then drawn closely inward to the sides of the cock by means of the wire to which the ordinary seal is applied, which thereby revents the cock drawings.
This invention relates to a seal for stopcocks, and particularly to a cap adapted to fit the head of the stop-cock.
The invention has for an o ject to provide d construction of seal embodying to pass at opposite sides of a stop-cock and provided upon its upper face with a cap to fi and prevent any turning or after the seal is applied in removal of the seal.
Other and further objects of the invention will be hereinafter set forth and the nove features thereof defined in the appended claims.
In the drawings,
from being turned or ot erwise tampered with without removing the seal or injury of the parts which would indicate such tampering. rlhe stirrup exten ing at each side of the cock will also render tampering with the same impossble and prevent injury thereof, while the form of the parts permits .their application to many different sizes of stop-cocks which are in use and movement thereof position without Figure 1 is a perspective of the invention applied to a stop-cock. Fig. per 'ts it to be adjusted closely .to the sides 2 is a vertical section on the line 2 2 of Fig. 3. thereof, so as to prevent movement or unau- Fig. 3 is a similar view on the line 3 3, Fig. 2; thorized tampering with the parts.
and Fig. 4 is a bottom plan thereof. Having now described my invention and letters of reference refer to like parts set forth its merits, what l claim, and desire the drawto secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A seal for stop-cocks comprising a stirrup provided with angularly-disposed side wallsl adapted to contact with the cock and having an upwardly-extending angular cap secured to its top portion to embrace the operating-head of said cock.
2. ln a stop-cock, a stirrup provided with an aperture in its upper portion, a cap adapted to inclose the head of said cock and provided with said stirrup, y
Lilie ings.
The letter A shows a stirrup formed of any desirable material, preferably of sheetmetal, and provided with a top portion A having an aperture A2 therein to pass over j the head of the stop-cock B. This top ortion is formed at opposte sides with depending portions A3, provi ed with suitable apertures A4, through which a sealing device of any desired character may be passedsuch, for instance, as the wire lateral iianges disposed beneath A5, having a and means for securing sai lead seal A6 thereon, said wire passing stirrup in position. through the depending portion upon one side In testimony whereof l aff'ixmy signature HENRY C. SISCO.
the cock and thence through the aperture in the oppositel ing portion, where the seal is applied. The
top A of the stirrup is provided with a cap Witnesses:
