l Speeication of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 30, 1906.
Applicant flied July 13.1905. sena No. 269,484.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN FRANTISEK MIKOLASEK, a citizen oli' the United States, and a resident of Vodnany, in the county oit Bonhomme and State of South Dakota, have invented a new and Improved Ditching- Plow, of which the following is a full, clear,
and exact description.
This invention relates to improvements in ditching-plows, the object being to provide a device of this character that will be simple in construction, adjustable as to the depth of cut, and so arranged as to discharge the dirt to one side of the ditch.
I will describe a ditching-plow embodying my invention and then point out the novel features in the appended claim.
Reference is to be had to the aceomp anying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in. which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figurel is a perspective view of a ditching-plow embodying my invention. F ig. 2 is a plan thereof, and Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 2.
The plow comprises a beam 5, supported at its front end by means of a roller 6, connect ed to a yoke 7, which embraces the beam 5 and has a plurality of perforations 8, through one pair of which a pin 9 may be passed, the said. pin also passing through an opening in the beam. By this arrangement the depth oi cut may be regulated. The yoke 7 is pivotally connected slightly above the roller 6 to an arm 10, which is also pivoted to the beam. Supported from the beam 5 is a trough 11, which is inclined upward and rearward, and
at its rear end the said trough is provided with a lateral extension 12, designed to discharge earth removed from the trench to one side of' the trench, and' on the forward end of the trough 11 is a metal blade 13. As here shown, the trough is supported from the beam at its forward end by means of a hanger 14, and a hanger 15 supports the rear end of the troughirom the beam. The rear end of the plow is supported by means of a shoe 16 on the lower end of a yoke 17, depending from the beam. The plow is provided with handles 1S, and in the operation as it is drawn forward by horse or other draft-animal the dirt will be scooped up andv passed through the trough 11 to one side ol the ditch.
The handles may be adjusted as to height by engaging securing bolts 19, extended through periorations in standards 2O on the beam.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A ditching-plow comprising a beam, a yoke vertically adjustable at the iront end of the beam, a roller mounted in said yoke, and an arm pivotally connected to the yoke and also pivotally connected to the beam, an upwardly and rearwardly inclined trough suspended from the beam and having a lateral extension at the rear end, a cutting-blade on the front end of the trough, a yoke depending from the beam, and a shoe attached to said depending yoke.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this speciiication in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOHN FRANTl-SEK MIKOTJASEK.
