VALVE-BAG..
` To all lull/(mt t mei/y concern.'
This invention relates to ba s which are filled through a valve-controlle 'opening by means of a tube or funnel.
yThe iinproved'bag employs a valve, prefcrably a separate rectangular piece of ,cloth or heavy paper, marginally secured to the body of 4the bag beneath the filling-opening'. In the preferred construction the fillingopening is near the cornerof the bag and a rectangular valve is secured to the bag along three edges, leaving a lateral passage for the insertion of the filling-tube between the valve and the bag-body.
' Referring to the accompanying drawings,
' Figure 1 is a side elevation of a cloth valvebag. Fig. 2 is a detail view ofthe valve shown in Fig. 1. Figs. 34 and 4 are detail views of modified valves, and Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a paper valve-bagl Referring to Figs. 1. and 2, the cloth bag 1 has a circular opening 2 near its corner. The
The cloth bag 1 shown in Fig, 3 has a rectangular punctured opening 2', beneath which is a rectangular-valve3', of heavy paper, secured to the bag at its u per and right-hand edges by the lines of stitches '4 and 5 and at its lower edge by paste 6.-
The cloth bag 1 shown in Fig. 4 is slitted downwardly at one side near the corner the slits 7 8 above the cloth tongue 9 and bev Specification of 'Letters Patent. Aupnlicatioii filed February 29 1904.-. Serial No. 195,817.

neath the adjacent .portions of the bag-body.4 The valve is held in place by the lines of stitches 4 5 at the top and side, leaving a lateral passage at the left for insertion of the filling-tube.
The paper bag 11 (shown in Fig. 5) is folded and permanently closed at its upper and lower ends l2 18 and has a circular opening 2 near one corner, beneath which is secured a rectangular valve 3 'of heavy paper. This valve is attached to the bag-body along its' upper right hand and lower edges by paste G, leaving a passage for the filling-tube. This valve-bag differs from the prior construc- .tions in that the valve is a separate piece secured to the ba The use of a separate valveieee instea of an inwardly-extending tu ular neck, which is an integral eXtension of the body, effects a considerable saving in material. The revision of a delinite opening in the body or the bag and a valve which underlies this o Jening and is marginally secured to the boi y, except at one side of the opening, affords a simple and effective valve construct-ion. The iilling-tiibe can be easily and quickly inserted through the lateral passage between the valve and the body, and the material positively and securely closes the valve whenthe bag is filled and reversed. i
'1. `A valve-bag, comprising a bag having an opening in the material of its bo y, and avalve beneath the opening and marginally secured to the body, is set forth.
2, A valve-bag, comprising a bag having anopeningin the material of its bony, and a valve beneath 'the opening and marginally secured to the body at di'lleient sides of the opening, as set forth. y
A valve-bag, comprising a bag having an ippening in its body, and a valve beneath theo'pening and marginally secured to the body except at one side of thc opening, as set forth.
A valve-laag, comprising a bag having l the opening and marginally secured to the 'JOHN ROGERS, `OF CLEVELAND,` OHIO, ASSlGNOR TO BATES VALVE\}G IOO IOS'
body al` dil'erent sides of the opening, as set forth.
A Valve-bag, comprising a bag having an opening in its, iody, and a .'alveoonsisting l of a separate pieve beneath 'heopening and marginally secured to the body except aL one g side of the opening, as setI forth, l
7. A valve-bag, ooni'prising a bag having anopening in the material o1" its body, and a' i rectangular valve beneath die opening and marginally secured to the body, as set forth.
t5. A valve-bag, Comprising a bag having an opening in the material of ith` body, and a l rectangular valve beneath the opening and marginally secured to the body at different sides ol' the Opening, as set forth.
9. A valvf bag, comprising a bag having an opening in its body, and a rectangular valve beneath. the opening and marginally l seeured 'to the bodyr except at one side of the 2o opening, as set forth.
10. A valve-bag,v comprising a bag having an opening in its body, and a rectangular valve beneath the opening, said Valve sewed to the body along its upper and omx side edge and pasted to the body along its lower edge, as set forth. l
1 1. Vabre-bag having a valve-Controlld opening in the material of its body, both 1 ends of said bag boing Yfolded and perina- 30 nentl y closed, as set l'orLh.
