given eur1'ent,hesi(ies being J 1 .er objects will more fully appear nerein relay designed and sdspted fer 10119-SWit8l1l3011 ghntit Wil been rlerstoed that theinvention maybe embodied in many other terms of zipper-sates and is eeptihle of many other spplil'jutiens.
An embodiment of the invention ill-s trsted in the accompanying drawingssrhere- 111- Figure s view of an arranged ith eirenit ehsnging nerds ith my inventinn. is new ef the same. Fig. s
to he described. Thisridge or projectio 6 may be formed upon the pole-piece C in :1 v
suitehle manner, but preferably the Gilli of the pole-piece sent up and finished oil in the shape ol" a wedge, shown. The other pole-piece l) is suitably seeured to the opposite end of the core A by screw (2 and is formed with a foot a, by means of which the device may be fastened to suitable support,
and extend upward and over the top of the magnet-eon LOWitl'tl the pele-p ee C. 'fllns pole-piece 2) serves as a supper n eon- En-tented Jan. 2., 190's.
uit-ehanging' devices of ntly described. ef the magnet consists of fishing formed with a notch etsl transversely, this be engaged by the I the pole pie-3e C. is 153 pivoted upon said ridge -tion. extends into proximity to on of the pole-pieee l is thus completed and n S cne armature obteined. upon the shoulder (Z of pole-piece two sets 0% eontact-springs F F, suitinsnlsted by Washers. Intermediate two sets of contact-springs is a third set of springs 'G, hesringnpon the extension of the armature E througl'i the intermedistio i of insnlntin pegs f, thus maintaining the iervmrd end the armature normally in ested position. The springs G are pro \V' ll contacts 51, which bear normally the .o 'er set of contest-springs l3.
V the "rrnsture attracted by polei central set of springs G is 1'f-1i1'36d movement el extension 8 oi the urine- Whieh beers against the pegs f, so to contact with the lower set of springs and maize contest with the upper set.
The srnmtiu'e E is held in place upon its r means of pinsj", of insulatingnut- 21 se pins 2. '0 attached one to each the lower set of content-springs and bear upon the armature E in notches 0 to need in 1 bend of the arnxeture immediately over notch engaged by the transverse hearingese pins under the action of the perform the louhle function of maindisplacement oi the armature upon its pivot. This mounting of the armature, in eoinbirnu tion with its cooperating parts, is a very important feature of my invention.
In order to prevent sticking of the armstnre l I provide strips oi, non magnetic metal, one shown :Ll] extending across the under side of the extension 0 of the armature and having its ends oent thereover, which is thus interposed between that portion oi the armature and pole-piece C. The outer strip 6 is placed ncross and over the pole-piece D, immediately under the operative end of ermsture E, and its ends bent under in order to secure it tn the pole-piece.
part of the plate to cause actuation of said springs, said switch-springs serving to hold said plate on its pivot.
12. In a relay, the combination with a core of a coil thereon, a rear L-shaped pole-piece secured to the rear end of the core and extendin forwardly a distance along the top of the coi an L-shaped front pole-piece secured to the front end of the core and extending rearwardly a distance to leave a non-magnetic gap between the pole-pieces, means passing through the core for securing the pole-pieces to the core, a pivot edge at the end ofthe front pole-piece, -a plate of mag- ,netic material pivoted on said edge along an intermediary line, the part of said plate to the rear of said pivot forming an armature, the part of said plate in front of said pivot forming an actuating lever, and circuitc'hanging springs mounted at their rear ends on the rear poleiece and being connected at their front en 5 with the actuating-lever, said springs normally causing pressure against said lever to hold the armature part away from the rear pole-piece, cnrrent ilow through said coil causing attraction of the armature part, whereby said circuit-changing springs are actuated.
13. In a relay, the combination with a hollow core, of a coil'thereon, a rear L-shaped pole-piece secured to the rear end of the core and extending forwardly a distance along the top of thecoil, a front L-shaped pole-piece. secured to the front end of the core and extending rearwardly a distance along the top of the coil to leave a non-magnetic gap between the ends of thepole-pieces, means passing through said core connecting said polepieces and removably securing them to the core, the endof the front pole-piece offering a pivot edge, a magnetic plate pivoted on said edge at an intermediary line, the rear part of said plate forming an armature, the
ont part of said plate forming an actuatinglever, and switching mechanism mounted on the rear pole-piece and having connection with the actuating lever, said switching mechanism serving normally to depress said actuating-lever to retain the armature out of contact with the rear pole-piece, current-flow through said coil causing said armature to be attracted to complete the magnetic circuit through the pole-pieces and causing switch- 'ing mechanism to be actuated, said switching mechanism serving also to retain said plate in position on said pivot edge.
' 14. In a relay, the combination with a hollowcore, of a coil thereon, an L-shaped rear pole-piece secured to-the rear end of the core and extending forwardly a distance along the top of the coil, a front L-shaped poleiece secured to the front end of the core an extending rearwardly a distance along the top of the coil, a screw passing through said core adapted to removably hold said pole-pieces on said core, a non-magnetic gap between the ends of the polepieces, the end of the front pole-piece being shaped to form a pivot edge, a plate of magnetic material pivoted at an in termediary line on said edge, the rear part of said plate forming an armature and the front part thereof rorming an actuating-lever, and actuating and contact switch-springs mounted at their rear ends on the rear pole-piece and extending forwardly therefrom, the front end of the actuating-springs having connection with said actuatin lever and tending normally to depress sai lever to retain the armature away from the rear polepiece and out of engagement with the contact-springs, current-flow through said coil causing energiz'ation of the relay, whereby the armature is attracted toward the rear polc-piece, said actuating-lever being raised to carry the actuating-springs into engagement with the contact-springs.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature I in presence of two witnesses.
