To all whom, t may concern:

Be it known that I, MILTON WARDER STORY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Indianapolis, in the county `of Marion and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Attachments for Washtubs, of which the following is a speciiication.

This invention relates to an attachment for washtubs, and especially for metal tubs having a rolled or beaded upper edge, as is thle) case with the ordinary galvanized-iron tu The object of the invention is to provide means by which a clOthes-wringer having the usual clamps with set-screws can be attached to such a tub. With the wooden tub a firm hold for the set-screws is readily obtained; but with the metal tub the beading at the top holds the wringer too far from the side to enable it to be clamped by the screws. My invention overcomes this difficulty by detachably securing adjustable wooden blocks to the outside of the tub, and the clamp of the wringer engages these blocks in the same manner as though the wringer were attached to a wooden tub of the usual construction. By making the blocks adjustable they can be used with any form or size of wringer.

The invention consists in two parallel curved wires adapted to be secured to the sides of a washtub and two adjustable blocks carried by and adapted to be moved along the wires.

The invention also consists in the novel features of construction hereinafter described,

vpointed out in the claims, and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the practical application of my device. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of my device shown detached from a tub. Fig. 3 is a detail vertical section through the side of a tub,show ing my device attached thereto, the section being also taken through one of the movable blocks.

In the drawings, A represents a washtub having a bead A.

My attachment is composed of two wire members B and C. The wire member B is curved and at each end has a vertically-arranged hook member B, adapted to engage the upper edge of the tub A, fitting over as shown at D, to iit the bead A.

The main or body portion of the member O is arranged parallel to and below the body portion of the member B and at each end terminates in an upwardly-eX- tending Ortion O, which is bent over the member adjacent the hook members B. The parallel curved members B and C form guideways or tracks along which slide blocks D, the wire members having their horizontal Or body portions passing loosely through the said blocks. At their upperl ends the blocks D have their inner faces cut away,

In operation the blocks D are spaced the proper distance apart and the wringer clamped thereto. When it is desired to remove the wringer from the tub, it is only necessary to loosen the wringer-clamps and disengage the hook members B from the bead A'.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

V1. A device of the kind described comprising parallel curved wire members, means for attaching said members to a tub, and adjustable blocks movable along said members.

2. A device of the kind described comprising a curved wire member having hook members formed at its ends and adapted to engage the upper edge of a tub, and adjustable blocks carried by said wire member.

3. A device of the kind described comprising parallel wire members, vertical hook members carried by one of the wire members and adapted to engage the upper edge of a tub, and blocks carried by the wire members, said blocks being cut away on their inner faces adjacent their upper ends, as and for the purpose set forth.

4. A device of the kind described comprising a wire 4member curved and having lhooks formed at each end, a second wire MILTON wARDER STORY.
