My invention relates to that class of pilefabric-wesving looms in which two independ ent backing-Webs are produced one above and the other below, a s'e'sries Q interposed separator bars or plstes, the pile-forming werp-threeds being shedded beck end forth in the spaces between these bars on plates, so as to engage first with one backing-web end then with the other end the crossing threads which connect the two beck; g-webs being subsequently severed midwey between said backing-webs, so es to produce two independent fabrics, each with a cut-pile The object of my invention to simplify the construction and improve the operation of looms of this class.

Having thus described my in ven-tion,I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The combination, in a loom for weaving double-pile fabrics, of the weaving mechanism, separator-plates interposed between the upper and lower backing fabrics and having rigisl connection with e rigid transverse bar of the loom, weft-thrend-directing bars having pivotal connection with said separator-plates, and n controlling heddlc for said directorbars with which the latter also have pivotal connection, substantially specified.

The combination, in a loom for weaving double-pile fabrics, of weaving mechanism, separator-platesinterposed between the upper and lower backing fabrics and having rigid connection with a rigid tinnsvcrse bar of the loom and also slots open at the outer ends of the plates, and s trensacrsclvmoving knife 1 I whose cutting edge enters said slots, substantially as specified.

4. The combination in a loom for weaving double-pile fabrics; of Weaving mechanism, separator-plates interposed between the upper and lower backing fabrics, said separatorplates having slots open at the outer ends, a. bar upon which said separator plates are mounted, and a transversely-movable cutting knife also mounted on said ber'and having a cutting edge which enters the slots in the separator-pletes, substantially as specified.

The combination, in a loom for weaving double-pile fabrics, of weaving mechanism, separator-plates interposed between the upper and lower backing fabrics and having rigid connection with a rigid transverse bar of the loom, said plates also having open-ended slots at their front ends, a transversely-movable knife having a, cutting edge entering said slots, director-bars having pivotal connection with the inner ends of the separator-plates, and a controlling-heddle for said bars also having pivotal connection therewith, substantially as specified.
