Description

LUQI'US E. MIGHELL, OFCINCINNATI, OHIO.V
Letters Patent No. 80,650, dated August 4, 1868.
- IMPROVE!) CURTAIN-FIXTURE.
" tlgt Srlghnle nfetter in in time Entert tinit mit making part nf tigt samt.
T.O ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN; l
Be it known that I, LUGIUSA E. MICHELE., ot' CincnnatLHamilt'on county, and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Curtain-Fixture;`and .I do hereby declare the following tobe a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making kpart of this specification.
This improvement is desigued'to be used in connection with that, class' ofpflexible window-shades or curtains which are operated by means of an endless cord that'passes around a sheave on the upper roller of the shade, and also around a pulley which is attached to the wndnw-t'r'ame,l and my invention consists in renderingV said pulley capable of being adjusted vertically so as to impart a proper tension to the cord, and thereby prevent it being either too tight or too loose, Y
In the accompanying drawngsl Figure `1 is a front elevhtion of my improved curtan-ixture, and
Figure 2 is a'horizontal section of the same.
A represents a portion of'awindow-frame, to which there is' attachethhy screws, a, the plate: B, which isv provided with a series of apertures 6, that are arranged on an arc of a. circle, which is concentric with the pivot c ofthe spring-catch D. v v
This spring-catch is provided with' a rearwardly-projectingstud, d, which is capable of engaging in either of the apertures b, and thcfreevend of (said catch carries the customary pulleyE',.around which passes the end-v less cord F, by which the window-shade' is raised and lowered. l
l If at any time the cord Ashould become-too slack, it can .'be tightened in a moment by simply -drawing the spring D f'orward, so `as to disengage its .stud dfrom the aperture in which it was inserted, after which the spring ispressed downward, and when the cord has become suiciently tight the-stud is permitted to enter one ofthe lower apertures. i
The cord can be slaclrened at any time by reversing the above-described operation.
In the'drawings, which represent the device about` twice its actual size, the pivot C is shown as being suiciently long to'enter the window-frame A some distance, but this is not. necessary, asvsaid pivot may be simply tapped linto the plate B, without passing through it.
My curtain-fixture is simple'in its construction, not liable to get out of repair, and it canbe applied either to the'right or left-handside of the window-frammasmay be found convenient.
I claim herein as new, and of my inventioni The combination, substantially as described, of theuperforated plate B b, pivoted spring-catchl C D, stud al,i
and pulley for the purpose specified.
, In testimony of which invention, I hereunto set my hunch.
Lucius E. MIGHELL.
