IMPROVEMENT IN SHAWL-PINS.

TO ALL WHOM IT, MAY CONCERN Be it known that I, WILLIAM KNOWLES, of Rockville, in the county -of Parke, and' State oflndiana, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Shawl-Pins; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description o'' the same,reference being had to the annexed drawing, making part of this' specification, in which-it is shown in perspective.
The pin consists of three arms, A, B, and C, united at the middle by a. band, D, to which they are all soldered. The central arm, B, extending on each side ofthe band, is bent at the points as shown, and sharpened. The outer arms, A and C, after passing through the yband D, are bent outwardly on each end, and then extending parallel with the arm B, are in like4 manner bent at the point and sharpened. The pin is attached by drawing together the shawl, and hooking the points on each side, when the pin will be held in place by the tension oi' the shawl. 1
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, as a new article ot' manufacture, is
A shawl-pin constructed ofthe bent Aarn1s.A, B, and G, attached to the band D, substantially as described.
