Be it known that I ELLA SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Roanoke, in the I county of Randolph and State of'Alabama,

have invented certain new and useful Improvemerits in Dolls, specification.

- The-object of this invention is to pr'oducea of which the following is a bleand at the same time extremely human-like and attractive in appearance. In accdmplishing this I make the body or trunk,. thearms, hands,'legs, and feet of stufied fabric and'apthe legs and arms as-desi rable one or more coats of flesh-colored and preferably 'water:

Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s

2. A doll having a stiff face-piece, fabric covering the exterior of said face-piece and forming the exterior of the head and neck, neck, and paint applied over the exterior-of said fabric.

.3. A doll having a solid, rigid face-piece, face-piece and forming the exterior of the head and neck, and stufling inside of said head and neck:

A doll having a rigid piece shaped to conform to the contour of a human face and forming a solid backing for the face only of the doll, fabric covering the exterior of said facepiece, adhering closely thereto and forming the efterior of the head and neck, and astuflfed hag orming the interior of the head of the doll, substantially as described.

A doll having a rigid piece shaped to conform to the contour of the human face and forminga solid backing for the face of the doll, fabric covering the exterior of said facepiece, adhering closely thereto and enveloping the head and neck, a crown-piece covering the crown of the head and stitched to said fabric, stuffinginside of said head and neck, and paint applied over the exterior of said fabric and crown-piece.

10. A doll having a rigid face-piece, fabric covering the exterior of said face-piece and forming the exterior of the head and neck, stuifing inside of said head and neck, stufled fabric arms' hands, legs and feet and a stuffed fabric body having a stuffed foundation head and neck portion thereon, said arms and legs and the said fabric covering the head and neck being secured to said body by stitching, substantially as described.

11. A doll having a rigid face-piece, fabric covering the exterior of said face-piece and forming the exterior of the head and neck, .tufling inside of said head and neck, stuffed fabric arms, hands, legs and feet and a stuffed fabric body, said arms and legs and the said fabric covering the head and neck being socured to said body by stitching, and paint applied over said hands, arms, feet and legs, substantially as described.

12. A doll having a stuffed body portion terminating at one end in a neck and head portion, a rigid piece shaped to conform to the contour of the human face and forming a solid backing for the face of the doll, fabric covering the exterior of said face-piece,adhering closely thereto and enveloping the stuffed head and neck portions, a crown-piece covering the crown of the head and stitched to said fabric, stufiinginsideof said head and neck, and paint In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in ELLA SMITH.
