Patented Aug. '15, 1905.
Application i'lled May 10,1905. Serial No. 259,820.
'[0 (all whim/'1. 'it muy voll/cern:
Beit known that l, Lun W. l-lninifi'inu, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of San Francisco and State ol. California, have invented new and useful Improvements in GameBag's, of which the following' is a speciiication.
The object of my invention is to provide a bag in which a considerable quantity ol" wild game may be carried, which may be thrown over the shoulder oi' the hunter, and which will protect the clothingI of the hunter irom being,l soiled by the game and will also protect the game from coming` in contact with anything' outside the bagl whether the same is being` carried by the hunter or whether the bag is on the ground or elsewhere otl" the hunter, thereby keepingl the game in a smooth neat condition while it is beingl earried on and Frommthe hunting-preserve; also, to provide a bag which is thoroughly ventilated, so as to keep the game in as goed condition as possible during` the time it is in the bag. l accomplish these objects by the `gamebagl described herein and illustrated in the accompanying' drawings, in which-M Figure l. is a plan of my gamebag', partly broken away to show details oi construction. Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2 2 ot Fig'. l with the bag' in the position that it would assume it' it were thrown over the shoulder. Fig. is a plan of the game-strap to which the game is secured and held in the At each end of the game-strap 5 are the game-loops 6, into which the head ot' the `ame is usually thrust to hold it upon the strap. There may be as many of these loops on each end ot' the strap as desired. llo the center ot the game-strap is secured a retaining-loop 7 `for the passage therethrough ot the holdingstrap 8, which strap is secured at the ends to the center 9 olZ the bag'. The holdingstrap is provided with a buckle l() or other convenient fastening means to permit the gamestrap to be removed from the bag. lfoward the ends the casing'oi the bag` widens out and then contracts inwardly and iorms the holding-receptacles ll and l2, which inclosc and surround the game ou the ends ot' the gamestrap. The upper side oll the casingl ot' the bag' is provided with an opening which eX- tends vfrom nearly one end to the other, and the parts overlap at this opening, and after the game is secured to the game-strap in the bag' these parts are removably secured to- `g'ether by any fastening device. Yl have shown on the right-hand side oiI Fig'. l a strap 13 secured to one side of the easing; and a buckle la secured to the other side oi? the casing'. @n the left-hand side oi Fig. l the parts are held removably secured together by hooks lo, secured to one part, and eyes i6, secured to the other part. The casing` may be provided with a plurality ot' eyelets i7, so as to ventilate the interior ol the bag when there is game in it.
fli desired, the game-strap could be permanently secured to the casing' by sewing, or rivetingl it in the center instead ot by the removable means described and shown herein; but it would not beas convenient, and `I'or that reason Vl prefer the method ot' removably attachingl the gamestrap to the protecting-Img'. By securing' the game-strap removably tothe ln'otecting-bagl the hunter when he leaves the iield can take the game out oi the bag; and nicely arrange it for transportation and then put it bach in the protectiiig-bag` and secure the fastenings, so as to securely protect the game 'from injury or d isa rrangcment while it is being' transported. 'ilhe protectiiig-bag' is preferably made oi canvas, but, ii desired, could be made olr oilcloth or other material.
Having; described my invention, what Vl. claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isw
l. A gamebag composed ot' two holdingreceptacles united together and having` the top portion provided with a slit therein on the upper side thereof; means to removably secure the parts forming' the slit together; and a game-strap secured thereto, loops on the end thereof, said loops projecting' into the holding-receptacles- 2.. A game-bag' composed ot two pearshaped holding-receptacles united together and having` the top portion oliI each holdingrecel'itaole provided with an opening' or slit therein and having means to secure the parts 'forming the sides ol the slit together; a game-strap having ieamo-loops at each end thereof; a retaining-loop secu red to the center oi said `game-strap; a holding-strap secured to the portion ol the bag; uniting the receptacles, said holding-strap being adapted to pass through the retainingloop on the game-strap and to have the parts thereol ree movably fastened together.
A gamediag composed oi two pearshaped holding-receptacles united together and having a plurality ot Ventilating-apertures in said holding-receptacles and a slit extending' from near the outer end of one re- In Witness that I claim the Jforegoing1 I have eeptaele to near the outer end of the other hereunto subscribed my narne this 22d day of receptacle on the upper side thereof; ineens April, 1905.
to secure the parts forming' the Sides of the f y slit together; a game-strap havingl retaining` LEE n HRPHAM loops on the ends thereof in said bag; and W'itnesses:
means to removably secure said game-strap WYM. V. MCBAY,
