.have invented and produced a new and uselul improvement in Centrifugal Cream-Separators; and we do hereby declare the :following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art te which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being' had to the accompanying drawings, and to numerals ol. reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. y
The objects of this `invention are to secure increased efficiency in the separation of cream trom whole milk; to reduce the cost et' constructing the separator and to secure a more simple structure; to facilitate the cleansing of the machine after service; to break up the whole milk into thin lilm-like streams or'eurrents, whereby7 the cream-globules are brought into Contact with the ereaming-surfaces ot' the liner, and to obtain other advantages and results, some of which may be referred to hereinafter in connection with the description oli' the working parts.
',lhe invention consists in the improved centrifugal separator and in the arrangements and combinations of parts of the same, all substantially as will be liereinalter set lorth and linally elinbraced in the clauses ot' the claim.

At the centra] vertical axis el the bowl is arranged a \vlioleluilk tube 12, which extendsdownward to a longitudinal plate or flange .13 near the betteln et' the bowl, the said l'iange lying a little up from said bottom and held by means of ribs 14 or in any other suitable manner. The said plate or `flange 13 is preferably perforated, as shown more clearly at 15 in Fig. 3. Above said i'lange, within the interior chamber ol the bowl, are, arranged hollow perforated liner members or partitions .1G 17, which have the lorm el: truncated cones in side ele vation. The lower yconical partition liti has its lower larger end seated upon the said llange or plate 13 near its periphery, the said larger end oi' the conical partition preferably being o i a diameter about equal to the diameter et said plate 13 and lying closely near to the interior wall oi1 the chamber within the bowl. There the parti* tion 17 engages the interior walls ol the bowl, small lugs or projections 20aml `formed, which serve to hold the partition '17 away lrom said interior walls, so that narrow blueanilk passages 21, Fig. 2, are formed between the said conical partition and the interior walls. We perfor-ate the conical partitions to permit a tralismission oi ll uid from one side to tl ie other. We prefer to form the perforations 2?) in said conical partitions as shown in Figs. .1 and 5, the perforations beingl in the form of slots which are disposed at various angles, so as to 'lorm thin eddies or currents within the body of the lluid, so that one current or eddy will be ilorced into contact with the other as the body el. the milk llows Lunvard. Thus this contact of the eddies tends to cause the cream globules or particles to contact one with another, whereby the said particles will be agglomerated or joined, and thus enlarged to become more perfectly and readily acted upon by centrifugal force. The upper edge of the conical partition is preferably rein forced interiorl y by a strengthening-rib 24. l/Vhile we prefer to employ outside of said partitions 16 17 another vertical liner25, we may dispense with the same and employ the oppositely-fiaring vpartitions alone; but for the purposes of this case we prefer a special form of partition, (shown particularly in Figs. 1 and 6, the invention of one of the parties to this application. In reassembling the parts we first insert within the bowl the flanged feeding-tube and afterward insert the lower conical partition 16 on its seat on the flange or plate 13. IVe then apply to the top of the lower said partition the upper partition, the latter being thrust into telescopic relation, as shown in Fig. 1, after which the cover 26 is applied to the bowl in any usual manner. When the outside cylindrical lining-partition 25 is employed, we prefer to insert the same between the large ends of the conical partitions, as shown in Fig. 1. The lower conical partition 16 being first .insel-ted, then the cylindrical partition 25 is placed with its larger end pressing down on the Lipper edge of the cylinder, the latter being thus held in place.- To maintain proper balance, we prefer to provide the bowl with suitable lugs or projections 28, Fig. 3, which enter notches or corresponding recesses in the partitions, by which said parts are held in the proper relation to maintain the desired balance, as will be understood. These recesses and lugs or projections may be arranged in any suitable relation common in the art. The oppositely-disposed conical partitions serve to break up the vertically-movable body of liquid twice in its upward course, the liquid being cut into thin film-like streams or eddies and being forced through the conical partitions twice, once near the bottom of the bowl and again near the top of the bowl, which conduces to a thorough separation of the cream from the blue milk.
In operation the bowl being rotated on its axial shaft 11 in any ordinary manner the new or whole milk is fed down through the tube 12 to the bottom of the bowl, where it spreads out through the passage 29 to the 11p-passages 15 neary the periphery of the bowl, where the milk is brought into almost immediate contact with the inner wall of the lower conical partition 16, on which some of its cream is deposited. In said partition are the variouslyinclined long and narrow slots 23, through which the iiuid flows, depositing its cream ical partition and the cream thereof brought into positive contact with the outer surface and walls of the narrow slots, as will be obvious. At the top of the bowl the cream passes out through a cream-exit (not shown) and the blue milk through a blue-milk exit 30 in any usual manner.
Having thus described the invention, what we claim as new is 1. rlhe improved centrifugal creamer, comprising' a bowl arranged on a rotary shaft, a feeding-tube and a liner arranged outside of said tube and comprising two conical partitions separably joined at their small ends and at their larger ends bearing against thedwall of the bowl.
2. The improved centrifugal creamer, comprising a bowl arranged on a rotary shaft, a feeding-tube and a liner arranged outside of said tube and comprising two conical and slotted partitions separably joined at their small ends and at their larger ends bearing against the wall of the bowl.
3. The improved centrifugal creamer, comprising a bowl, arranged on a rotary shaft, a feeding-tube and a liner arranged outside of said tube and comprising two perforated conical partitions separably joined at their small ends and at their larger ends bearing against the wall of the bowl.
4. The improved centrifugal creamer', comprising a bowl arranged on a rot-ary shaft, a feeding-tube, and conical partitions extending around said feeding-tube, the small ends of which telescopically engage one another and the inclined walls of which are perforated at numerous points.
5. The improved centrifugal creamer, comprising a bowl arranged on a rotary shaft, a feeding-tube, and conical partitions extending around said feeding-tube, the small ends of which telescopically engage one another and the inclined walls of which are slotted at numerous points, the slots extending in various directions.
6. The improved centrifugal creamer comprising a bowl arranged on a rotary shaft, a feeding-tube and a liner arranged outside of said tube and comprising two frusto-conical partitions joined at their small ends and at their large ends bearing against the wall of the bowl, substantially as set forth.
7. The improved centrifugal creamer comprising a bowl arranged on a rotary shaft, a feeding-tube and a liner arranged outside of said tube and comprising two frusto-conical partitions joined at their small ends and having perforations at numerous points therethrough, substantially as set forth.
8. rIhe improved centrifugal creamer herein described, comprising a bowl arranged on a rotary shaft, and having a cover with out-passages for cream and blue milk and with a tube extending down therefrom at the axial center of the bowl, the lower end of said tube being IOO reati-3o open to permit the milk to V[low into the main separating-chamber oll the bowl, a liner ar' ranged outside oi said tube comprising two oppositeiy-disposed truste-conical partitions, the large end of one of which lies near the top, and the large end of the otherotl which lies near the bottom of the bowl, each extending from near the outside of said tube toward the inside wall of the bowl, and each of said truste-conical partitions being' perforated at numerous points throughout its surface to permit an up'l'low of liquid tl'ierethrough, the up'flowing liquid first in its course passing' through one conicalpartition and then through the other, and a perforated cylindrical partition disposed in the bowl between, and engaging the outer sides of the large ends of said truste-conical partitions and being held in place thereby.
9. The improved centrifugal crcamer,herein described comprising a bowl arranged on a rotary shaft, and having a cover with out-passages for cream and blue milk and with a tube extending down therefrom at the axial center of the bowl, the lower end of said tube being' open to permit the milk to Vfiow into the body ot' the bowl, a liner arranged outside of said tube comprising two Yfrusto-coi'iiical partitions joined at their small ends, each extending 'from near the outside of said tube to the in' side wall ot' the bowl, and each of said frnstoconical partitions` being perforated at numerous points throughout its surface to permit an upilow ot' liquid therethrough, the upflow-' ing liquid iirst in its course passing through one conical partition and then through the other, and a perforated cylindrical partition arranged between the conical partitions.
