TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that we, H. WHISLER and J. S. BERRY, of New Market, in the county of Highland, and State of Ohio, have invented certain newand useful Improvements in Stills; and we do'hereby declare that the following is a. full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, an to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
I In the annexed drawings, which make partof this specification-- Figure lrepresents a side ele vation of our apparatus.
Figure 2 is a perspective of the still. Figure 3 is a plan view of the spiral channel on the' cap of still. F gure 4 is a. vertioal'section of cap, with conduit leading from it. The letter A represents a furnace, and B' the still when in position. C designates the cap of the still,
which is made hollow, and formed with a. nick to fit inside of the nick d, on the top of still B. The cap G is conical in form, and has on its upper surface the spiral channel e. On the apex of the channel 2 a constant stream of water will descend; through the convolutions of the spiral, and thereby condense the vapor formed in the interior of the cap. The vapor, thus condensed, will flow out through the pipe ginto the vessel prepared to receive it. The water received at the top of cap 0 will be conveyed oil by the conduit, f.
The operation of our apparatus is the some, in effect, as the ordinaryprocess of distillation. The vapor, being condensed in the cap, flows out through. the pipe g, as already stated.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is,-
I The cap 0, when constructed with the spiral channel e, pipe g, and conduitf, in tho manner substantially as set forth.
In testimony that we clajin the roregoing sis our own, we aflix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
H. WHISLER, '.I. s. BERRY.
