Be it known that I, ELIZEBEATH H. J OHN- SON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Clayton, in the county of Johnson and State of North Carolina, have invented new and useful Improvements in a Combined Sup port for Garments and Catamenial Sacks, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in combined supports for garments and catamenial sacks; and the object is to provide a device which will support the weight of the garments directly from the shoulders of the person. It is also the purpose to make such a device of simple, convenient, and durable construction and to the e ffect th at it may be readily donnedand as readily adjusted to the purposes intended.

With these purposes in view the inventio resides in the novel construction of partsand their aggroupment in a new or improved article of manufacture, as will be fully specified and the novel features particularly pointed out and distinctly claimed.

Fig. 3 is a detail view in elevation of the front elastic strap which connects the napkin to the inner front tab.

In thedrawings, like parts appearing in the several illustrations are indicated by similar reference notations, and referring to the drawings, A designates a yoke which may be made loW ,or'high neck, in either instance being made with side extensions 2, which are of such length as to reach to the band of any skirt to which they are to be connected and are placed on a line central with the vertical center of the armholes of the yoke. It may be here stated that the safety-pins are preferred as fastenings because they are reasonably secure and are not liable to discolor the fabric as much as permanently-attached buckles and similar devices. The fastening-pins are designated in the drawings by the reference 3 wherever they are used. To the inner side of one of the breast-pieces of the yoke is secured the upper end of the front tab 4, which reaches straight down, its lower end being adapted to be attached to the band of a skirt in a Wellknown manner. This tabmay be made of the same kind of material as that of which the yoke is made. To the middle of the back piece of the yoke is secured a depending tab 5, made somewhat broader than the front tab 4, so as to rest comfortably against. the back of the wearer. To the lower end of the back tab 5 is detachably secured a textile plate 6,

To the front piece of the yoke in alinement with the tab 4 is secured a napkin-tab 6, to the lower end portion of which may be detachably secured the end piece of an elastic strip 11, the lower end piece or textile plate 12 of which is adapted to be detachably secured to the front end of the menstrual napkin, substantially as seen in the drawings.

To the back piece of the yoke in alinement with the tab 5 is secured the upper end of the other or back napkin-tab 18, to the lower end of which may be detachably secured the textile plate 14, to which are secured the upper ends of elastic strips 15, to the lower end of which is secured a textile end piece 16. The rear tabs of the device are made wider, for the reason that it gives more comfort to the wearer at this point and'tends to bring the broader portion of the folded napkin into a position where it effects its purpose in the best manner. To the piece 16 is detachably connected the rear end of the napkin, substantially as shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings. It is apparent that the napkin may be replaced at any time required by simply taking out the safety-pins, and when the exigencies which require the use of the napkin have ceased it may be removed, together with the elastic pieces 11 and 15, and then the tabs 6 and 13 are free to lie flat against the inner face of the skirt-tabs without any discomfort or inconvenience to the wearer. It is readily perceived that since the device is made of wash material it may be cleansed at any time desired.

The device may be worn with or without a corset. Should a corset be worn, that garment is first put on, and then the device is donned and the front pieces of the yoke lapped and fastened together with the napkin-tabs placed under the drawer-band, if worn, or under the skirt-bands, as may be. If a shirtwaist is worn, the band may have slits in it, through which the skirt-tabs are passed and fastened in position by safety-pins. Then the belt being put on it conceals the waistbands in front and the tab ends at the back. As occasion may require, the napkin may have the elastic pieces secured to its ends, and then the elastics may be safety-pinned to the napkintabs 11 and 15, all as shown in the drawings.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A combined garment and menstrual-napkin supporter, comprising a yoke adapted to lit the shoulders of the person and formed with integral depending skirt-tabs at the sides, a skirt-supporting tab secured at the meeting ends of the front pieces of the yoke, a skirtsupporting tab secured to the back piece of the yoke, and duplicate elastic tabs detacha bl y secured to the lower end of the tab secured to the back piece of the yoke.
