The n a.t'ure of my invention consists in thc combination of 11 screw-feriule witl'x tl1e cross-head, for tl1e donble Purpose of tightening und holding the sa.id cross-head to the handle and provicling a screw f or a thurnbnui s to opera.te the binding-wire also in a new device for holding tho thumb-nut in itsrproper position withln the cblla.r, and an arrangernent by which the binding-wire is made to hold the several arts together.

I construct my mop-head of casl: und wrought iron, th a.t being the best und chenpest material. T0 prevent rust, &c., it is covered with a. thin coa.ting of copper in the usual way. In tl1e accmpmnying clmwings Figure 1 represen ts a. sicle'elovation, in partial seetion, of my suicl invention.

Figure 2 is a. pla.n vievf of the collm, with the pnrts for holdingythe thumb-nut in position within it.
