IMPROVED GATE-HINGE.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that LPAUL DENNIS, of Schuylerville, in the county of Saratoga, and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Grate-Hinge; and I do hereby declare that the following is u full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being iad to the accompanying drawings, forming part of' this specification.

This invention consists of an improved gute-hinge, and has for its object increased strength and durability ofthe hinge and diminution of the friction in opening and closing the gate. In the accompanying drawings-L,

'The wings or sides of the box B extend above the roller, and serve as guides to the gate. The vbox B carries a pivot, O, which sets in the socket D of the hinge E. 'lhe hinge E may -be n single bnr scoured in the ordinary mannerfbutl prefer a double-clasp hinge fastened to two sides of the gute-post. I also prefer casting the roller Aand pin or axis ain one casting; and the box B, with its pivot C, also in one casting, :is tending'greatly' to increase the strength of the entire hinge. The flanges e e also serve to increase the strength of theV hinge E, but are notan essential feature of my invention.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as'new, and desire t-'o secure by Letters Patent- The construction of the gate-hinge, consisting ofthe forked portion D, haringen socket in which the pintle C of the box B Hts, said box carrying above the pintle, in thegrooved guides b, the roller A, :is herein described, for the'pnrpose specified.
