TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN;

Be it known that I, ALBERT COMEY, of Cuyehogn Falls, in the county of Summit, and State of Ohio, have invented anew and useful Line-Holder; and I do hereby declare that the following is a. full and exact description of the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and tothe letters of reference marked thereon.

This invention, consists of a simple device for holding lines or ropes, as will be Fully described. 7

in the drawings, A represents a post upon which is suitably attached by screws the plate B, to which is pivoted, at the-point b, the earn 0, the latter *beiiig constructed as shown in' figure I, nearly triangular. in shape, its lower edge, however, being a section of a circle, or nearly so, and having the teeth 0. D represents a. ring, provided with the flange d, and also serratemwhich is attached at the point d to the plate B, in such manner as to revolve freely.

From this description the operation of my invention will be easily understood. The com 0, having been swung to one side, the rope z is laid upon the ring D, the flange d of which prevents it from slipping oil, and when the desired tension has been given, the cam O is allowed to. come down upon the rope and the teeth 0,

thus made to engage it, as shown in fig. 1. When in this posit-ion it will be observed that when the strain is greatest the rope is most tightly held.

My invention is especially designed for huldingclothes-llnes or tie-lines for horses, but if, suitably constructed it cache used'for holding any size of line.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, islhe plate B, with swinging cam C, arranged in such manner as to operate by its, own weight frueln either side, and flangedgzerrated roller D, when combined as and for the purpose set forth.
