GAS-LAM P.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 732,928, dated J' uly 7, 1903.
` Application led February 2l, 1903A. Serial No. 144,424. (No model.) Y
` gas-lamps, and has for its particular object to improve the .construction shown in United States LettersV Patent No. 373,057, granted November 15, 41387, to the Pintsch Lighting Company, of New York city, New York, as assignee of allmy right, title, and interest.
In the accompanying drawings l have shown a lamp in which one form of' my invention is embodied. y
In the drawings, Figure l shows a vertical section of the lamp; `and Fig. Il, a horizontal section on the line 2 2 of Fig. I, showing the arrangement of the lines.
In the drawings, ct indicates the main frame of the lamp in the form` of a spider,'within which is cored or otherwise produced a gasway 3, terminating in the downwardly-proj ecting nipple 4. From the downwardly-proj ecting nipple 4 an extension-pillar 5 extends, having a iiange 6. A iiange 7, fitted upon a cluster-stem 8, is connected by screws 9 with the flange 6, and an inverted-cup-shaped reiiectorlO is embraced between the said flanges, and thereby held in place. The cluster-stem 8 supports a cluster 11. Located above the cluster is a mica chimney 12,whose upper end fits in a recess of the main frame or spider ce and which is supported by a ring reflector or partition 13, having an upwardly-extending portion 14 and an apertured outwardly-extending portion 15, suitably secured to a support-ring 16, supported from the spider or main frame d. A series of flues 17 4are supported above the'mica chimney, and a post 18 rising from the spider supports a top piece 19 for the fines, which top piece for thefiues supports a downwardly-projecting casing 20A, apertured at 21 and supporting a crown 22.:
Located above the ring-shaped reliector 13 is a suitable diaphragm 23, which is dished downwardly and closely surrounds the mica chimney l2.
A suitable lock 24 is provided, which lock is secured to the spider at its upper end and,
serves to prevent the extension-pillar from rotating. Y
Gas is brought to the lamp through a gaspipe 25, which communicates with the gasway 3 in the spider. A suitable dome26 is supported from the supportring, and a suitable globe 27 is supported by its upper edge from a bezel 28, which receives its support from the support-ring,"a spun ring 29 holding the edge of the globe in place.
Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Pat ent, is-
1. In a lamp the combination of a spider, a ring-reflector 13, a diaphragm of annular form extending inwardly and downwardly, a translucentchimney 12 located within the annular diaphragm, a reflector 10 located within the chimney and a cluster-burner located bei low the reflector substantially as described.
2. ln a lamp the combination of a cluster of burners, an inverted-oup-shaped reflector 10, a translucent chimney 12, a ring-reflector 13, an annular diaphragm 23 surrounding the said translucent chimney and extending downwardly and inwardly toward the same and a plurality of flues 'located above the translucent chimney.
3. ln a lamp the combination of a spider a.
vhaving a gasway therein, a burner-support ing tube depending from the said spider and communicating with the said gasway, a reflector 13 extending transversely of the lamp before the spider ct, a translucent chimney 12 intervening between the spider and the re= iiector, a cup-reflector 10 carried by the tube Vby which the burners are carried located within the translucent chimney 12, a downwardly-extending diaphragm 33 encircling the chimney 12, a set of draft-tubes located above and supported by the spider and a translucent dome 26 surrounding the said spider and extending above the same, and a globe` surrounding the burner whereby the burner and reIiecting-surfaces and the draftproducing devices are completely enveloped in a translucent receptacle comprised bythe globe and dome.
