SHADE-ROLLER BRACKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 727,333, dated May 5, 1903.
Application filed October 14, 1902. Serial No- 127.208. 0 mode To ctZZ whom, it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM FIELDHOUSE, Jr., a citizen of theUnited States, residing in Paterson, in the county of Passaic and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shade-Roller Brackets; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to shade-roller brackets or fixtures of the class in which the bracket proper-that is to say, the part which directly supports the shade-roller-is arranged for lateral adjust1nent,so that variouslengths of shade-rollers may be accommodated.
The object of the invention is to provide a device of this nature which shall embody as its principal characteristics simplicity and facility of adjustment.
The invention will be found fully illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure l is a perspective view of the device. Fig. 2 is a view showing the device partly in side elevation and partly in vertical section. Fig. 3 is an underneath view of the adjustable member of the device. Fig. 4 is a view, partly in plan and partly in horizontal section, of said adjustable member; and Fig. 5 is a view in side elevation of a modifled form of the invention.
Simplicity being one of the principal objects of the invention, the device consists of two members a, h, each cast in a single piece, the member a being a support for the member I) and consisting of a plain strip of metal whose cross-section is preferably dovetailed, as at 0, while the member I) is in the form of a relatively short stout arm having its mounting portion relatively widened,as at cl, and formed with a transverse groove 6 across its end,' which is shaped to correspond to the crosssectional shape of the member a. Themember a is adapted to be secured to the window-. casing by screws or the like, for the reception of which holes f are formed in the ends of the strip of which said member is composed. Extending lengthwise of the groove 6 there is formed in the end of the arm of the member I) a depression g, the end walls of which are recessed, as at h. In this depression seats a bent plate-spring 1', whose ends take in the recesses h, whereby it is thus held in place in the member b. The plate-spring projects somewhat beyond the bottom of the groove 6, so that when the member I) is slid upon the member a said plate-spring bears against the surface of the member a, and
thus acts to hold member b securely at any It will be understood that thedevice is used impairs, the member I? of one being formed with the usual round opening for the round trunnion of the shade-roller, while the member 17 of the other has the square opening for the square trunnion of the roller.
If it is desired to employ the device for the support of a curtain-pole, the member I) may be formed with an extension 3', formed with a recess 70, for this purpose. Having thus fully described my invention,
what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of two members, one of which consists of an elongated part and the other of which has an interlocked sliding ongagement with said first-named member and is formed with a groove receiving said firstnamed member and a depression in the bottom of said groove extending longitudinally thereof, said depression having its ends formed as recesses, and a spring disposed in said groove between said members and having its ends projecting into the recesses of said depression and its middle portion projecting out of said depression and engaging said first-named member, substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 11th day of October, 1902.
