ITo @ZZ whom, t may concern:
`lowing to be a full, clear, and exact descriphad to the accompanying drawings, and-.Io the that the'advertisements may be revolved at AUTOMATIC CLOCK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 71 5,226, dated December 2, 1902. Y
Application filed July 23,1902.
Be it known tirati, ROBERT S. WIESENEELD,y a citizen of the United States, residing at'Baltimore,` in the State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Automatic Clocks; and I do declare the foltion of the invention, such as will enable Others skilled in the art vto which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification. y
My invention relates to ad vertising-clorks; and the objects of the samel are to provide means for attaching a series of advertisements to the pedestal of a clock in such a manner intervals to give to each advertiser an equal display at the front or face side of the clock.
Another object is to providemeans for attaching` a thermometer at the top ofthe clock and to provide suitable openings in the clockframe for the insertion ot' weather reports or other desirable information. Anopening at the side of the .clock-frame is provided, through which a rotary calendar may be readily seen to give thev day of the month and week.
The objects referred to are attained by means of the construction illustrated in vthe accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure lis a front elevation of a clock made in accordance with my invention. vFig. 2 is a side elevation and partial section Ot the same. Fig. 3 is a transverse section on the line a:
The clock l is of any suitable style and may be either an electric or a spring motor clock. The clock-frame is provided with an opening 2 for displaying a weather report, and at the side of the frame a similar opening 3 is provided for a rotary calendar. A thermometer 4 is attached to a sign or advertisement 5 at the top of the clock, and a series of electric-light bulbs 6 are arranged in a circle around the face of the clock to illuminate the 1 Serial No. 116,65 9. KNO model.)
n the heads strips or cornerlposts 13 extendfrotn one head to the other and are properly secured 5 5 to form a iight strong frame to support a series of advertisements or signs la. These signs are connected togetherbyhooks land may be transparent or opaque. If transparent signs are to beused, electric or other lights 6o may be arrangedwithin the frame back of the signs vto illuminate them. The frame 9 may be rotate'd'from time to time either by hand or by means of a spring or electric motor in order that each advertiser may have v the benefit' of equal display at the front of the clock. By means of the hooks 15 the signs may be detach'ably connected together, and new signs may be readily attached When desired.
A clock made in accordance with my invention may be rendered very attractive and useful and at the same-time be ot considerable value to advertisers.
What I desire to secure by Letters Patent and claim is* The hereindescribed advertising-clock, consisting of a base, a rod secured centrally to the base and having a clock rigidly secured to its upper end, a rectangular skeleton frame 8o consisting ot corner-strips, top and bottom pieces, and a tube extending` centrally from the top piece to the bottom piece, the central rod passing through the tube to permit the frame to revolve on the rod between the base and clock, and a series of placards removably suspended from the frame by hooks, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
p ROBERT S. WIESENFELD.
