BAG OR SATCHEL FRAME.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 712,459, dated October 28, 1902.

To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, FREDRICK LAU, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jerse'y, have invented certain newand useful Improvements in Bag or Satchel Frames; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form apart of this specification.

This invention relates to certain improvements in that class of bag-frames in which a pair of pivotal jaws are arranged at opposite sides of an angular frame, the said jaws being hinged or pivoted, so as to fold toward one another down on said frame, the free edge of one jaw being adapted to overlie the free edge of the opposite jaw when folded.

The objects of the present improvements are to reduce the cost of construction, to secure'greater neatness of finish, to secure a more simple and neat article, and to obtain other advantages and results, some of which may be referred to hereinafter in connection with the description of the working parts.

The invention consists in the improved bag-frame and in the arrangements and com binations of parts of the same, all substantially as will be hereinafter set forth, and finally embraced in the clauses of the claim.

The said caps are hollow on their inner sides to receive the edges of the covering material 7L on the rods 1) and hold the same in place at the ends. By this construction the covering of the rods (1 is more neatly and securely applied than heretofore, the said caps thus serving the double function of providing a firm bearing against the bars a and a stay or protector for the said edge of the'coveririg-leather on the wire. The construction thus described conduces to increased simplicity and durability of structure.
