. HANS INGEBRIKT OLSEN, OF HYRUM, UTAH.
WINDOW.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. |`l03,150, dated J' une 24, 1902.
Application illed August l5, 1901. Serial No. 72,178. (No model.)
T0 @ZZ whom it may concern.:
Be it known that I, HANS INGEBRIKT OLsEN, a Subj ect of the King of Sweden and Norway, residing at Hyrum, in the county of Cache and State of Utah, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Windows; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to a removable parting-strip and means for holding the same in place; and the invention will be hereinafter and more fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim and is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, form a part of this specification, and in which drawings similar letters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, in which- Figure l is a perspective view showing my improved sectional parting-stri p held in place in the frame of a window, parts being broken away to better illustrate the details of the invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical section through the window-sash, showing in side elevation the removable section of the parting-strip.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates the frame of the window, which is of the ordinary construction. In the inner face of the windowframe on either side are sectional partingstrips, each made up of two pieces-the removable one B and the fixed section B'. The
lower removable section of each parting-strip 4o is supported on a spring C, which isl angular, said spring being fastened at one end to the window-sill and its free end adapted to be depressed to the sill or into a recess C in the sill as the parting-strip is pressed down upon said springfthus making it easy to remove the sectional parting-strip from the window when it is desired to reverse or remove the window-sash.
From the foregoing it will be seen that when it is desired for any purpose to swing the upper end of the sash from the window, so as to make it convenient to clean the panes of glass, when the cords are fastened to the sash, preferably at the lower corners thereof, the sectional parting-strip may be easily removed from the groove in the frame by pushing down said strip against the spring-bar to relieve the upper end of the removable strip from the lower inclined end of the fixed portion B.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim to be new, and desire to secure byLetters Patent, is
In combination with a window-frame, sash mounted therein, sectional parting-strips, the upper portions of which are fixed in the frame, angle-springs xed to the sill of the frame, the lower ends of the removable sections of the parting-strip adapted to rest upon the angled ends of said springs, said springs adapted to be depressed in recesses in, or to, the sill, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HANS INGEBRIKT OLSEN. Witnesses:
I. C. THoREsEN, I. E. THORESEN.
