ITE STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY BANDLER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO MORRIS LIVERIGHT, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
REVERSIBLE VEST.
SPLEGIFIGA'EION forming part of Letters Patent No. 686,699, dated November 19, 1901.
Application filed July 27, 1901. Serial No. 69,871. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that-I, HENRY BANDLER, acitizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Reversible Vests, of which the following is a specification.
My invention consists of a reversible vest in which the buitoning of both vests presented will be in the same direction, preferably from left to right.
My invention further consists in the details of construction hereinafter fully described and specifically claimed.
Figure 1 represents a front view of a vest constructed in accordance with myinvention. Fig. 2 represents a section thereof, taken on the line so Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures.
Referring to the drawings, in carrying out the invention I form the body of a vest of two facings or materials, such as silk A and cloth B. Each vest has a fly O, the members A B of which are continuous of the respective materials A B. The members A A have, respectively, buttons D and buttonholes E. The members B B have, respectively, buttons F and buttonholes G, so that each facing has its own buttons and buttonholes, and in closing the vest the inner member of one fly is inserted between the members of the opposite fly. In the present case one cloth niemberB is inserted between one silk memher A and the remaining cloth member B. This conceals both cloth members B; but both silk members A are at the front, and one is buttoned to the other, as in ordinary vests, (see Fig. 2,) a silk vest then being Worn. Now it is evident that the vest may be reversed and the cloth presented to the front, the silk with its fly members being transferred to the rear, and thus concealed. In either case the direction of buttoning remains the same-viz., from left to right.
It will of course be understood that, if desired, I can place collars and lapels on both facings or a collar and lapel on either of the facings, as may be desired; and it will be further evident that the invention can be applied to womens or childrens wear as Well as mens.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
' l. A reversible vest, the body of which is provided with facings on both sides thereof, and separated flies at each edge of the front of the vest, the members of said flies being provided with means for connecting the same.
2. A reversible vest, the body of which is provided with facings on both sides thereof, and separated flies at each edge of the front of the vest, the members of said flies being provided with buttons and buttonholes.
3. A reversible vest, the body of which is provided with facings on both sides thereof, and separated flies at each edge of the front of the vest, the corresponding fly members on opposite sides of the vest being provided with buttons and buttonholes respectively.
4. A reversible vest, the body of which is provided with facings on both sides thereof, and separated flies at each edge of the front of the vest, one member of the flyat one side of the vest being provided with buttons, the other member of said fly being provided with buttonholes, and the corresponding members of the fly on the opposite side of the vest being provided with buttonholes and buttons respectively.
HENRY BANDLER.
