CLOTDHES-KLINE 0R RoPE HOLDER.-
SPECIFICATION forming part or Letters Patent No. 673,-495, dated May '7, 1901. Application filed septeniber 24, 1900. berial No- 0j946| on model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE CAVELL, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Cleveland, in the county of Ouyaho'ga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Olothes=Line or Rope Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to holders for clotheslines or ropes; and it consists of a hand-reel the main portion of which is composed of a single'piece of wirerbent in the form shown in the accompanying drawing, in which the figure is a view in side elevation showing a Wire handle.
A is a piece of wire bent into partly square form, having two parallel sides, on one of which is formed a handle by bending and folding a portion of the wire upon itself and having a binding-clip B near the side of the frame for securing the wire together. The wire on the two transverse sides of the frame is bent inward at an angle of about forty-five degrees to form two V-shaped receptacles for the rope. In the angle of one of the receptacles the wire is bent into a short U shape 0.
D is a piece of wire connecting the two inner angles of the frame. On the side of the frame opposite to the handle and where the ends of the wire are joined one end of said wire is formed with a short extension E,standing outward at a slight angle. The purpose of the U -shaped recess 0 and the angular ex tension E will be seen later on.
To wind on the rope, a knot is tied in one end and that end is caught in the U-shaped recess 0, then the rope is wound around upon itself, filling the holder, and then the end is caught in the Wedge-recess formed by the eX= tension E.
This makes a very cheap, simple, and convenient holder for clothes-lines or other ropes.
Having described my invention, what I claim is The herein-described line-holder consisting of a wire bent at its middle upon itself to form a handle, a clip'B for binding the handle, the wire bent outward at right angles on each side of the clip, and again bent inwardly and outwardly to form two V-shaped sides, one of said V-shaped sides having U-shaped recess 0, a short wire D joining the two V-shaped sides, the wire again bent to bring its ends together to form a parallel side opposite the handle, the ends joined and fastened together with one end extending out at an acute angle as described. Signed by me at Cleveland, day of September, 1900.
