My invention relates to a new and novel device, the object of which being that of providing means by which the saw may be adjusted to and controlled at any desired height. I attain this object by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a vertical section of the device, illustrating the adaptation of the curved rod 6 to the auxiliary cylinder 1. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the device shown in Fig. 1; Fig. 3, a view of the device illustrating its adaptation to the saw-guide cylinder of a miter-box; Fig. 4, aview of the miter-box illustrating the device attached to'tlie saw-guide cylinder, the saw being adjusted to cut to a desired depth. 1 illustrates an auxiliary cylinder having a vertical slot 2, being provided at its base with a friction-roller 3, adapted to travel on plate 0. 4 illustrates an adjustable set-screw passing through the said slot, engaging with a plate 5, said plate being vertically movable. 6 illustrates a curved rod vertically movable in the said cylind er,restin g upon plate 5, being provided at its top with an engaging screw '7.
It is obvious that when rod 6 is attached to the saw-guide cylinder B the said cylinder and saw may be adjusted to any desired height by aid of the set-screw 4. Likewise by reason of the roller 8 the cylinder will travel upon plate 0 in a path around the guide-cylinder A as the saw is adjusted to required angles.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A combination comprising an auxiliary cylinder mounted to travel in a path around the guide-cylinder; a supporting-rod connected with the saw-guide cylinder, the said rod entering the auxiliary cylinder: and a device for adjusting said rod substantially as shown and set forth.
