To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I,WILL IAM V.THRELFALL, of Biddelord, in the county of York and State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in OopHolders for Spooling-Machines, of which the following is a description sufficiently full, clear, and exact to enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains or with which it is most nearly connected [0 make and use the same.

The object of the present invention is to provide a spoofing-machine cop-holder of the type adapted to carry a pivoted skewer, which cop-holder shall possess marked advantages in simplicity, practicability, and inexpensiveness of construction, in convenience of application to the spoofing-machine, and in durability andimmunity from derangement.

To this end the invention consists in cer- 2o tain novel features of construction and combinations of parts, the essential elements of. which are recited in the appended claims and preferred forms of embodiment of which are specifically described hereinafter and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, whereof- Figure 1 represents in side elevation a copholder embodying the invention, a supporting-rod of a spoofing-machine appearing in cross-'section.- Fig. 2 represents the same holder in front elevation. Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the holder, showing a portion of the supporting-rod; and Fig. 4 represents in side elevation, on a smaller scale, a cop-holder slightly modified in its attaching formation, a supporting-rail of a spoofing-machine appearing in cross-section.

The cop-holder in each instance takes the form of a bracket comprising a longitudinal part or standard Z, a lower or base arm n,

helically grooved, as shown at w. A skewer s is pivoted in the recess of the base-arm n,

as shown at t, and has a heel 8 extending down behind the lug or ear n, through which a set-screw it works for the purpose of insuring a position of the skewer in proper alinement with the guide-eye p.

In the construction shown in Figs. 1 to 3 a fork is is formed on the rear side of the standard Z for straddlinga supporting-rod kof the spoofing-machine, on which the bracket or holder may be adjusted and secured by a setscrew m, entered through the fork. In the construction shown in Fig. 4 a footwis formed on the rear side of the bracket or holder designed for being bolted to a rail y of the spoofing-machine. The attaching formation thus varies for different makes of spoolingmachines.

It will be seen that the invention provides an exceedingly simple and practical device conveniently applicable tospooling-machines and not subject to derangement. 'At the front the holder is entirely open, so as to offer no hindrance to the loading or doffing of the cop, diagrammatically illustrated and designated by the letter r. The single extended top arm 0 provides a support for a guide-eye and also for atension device effectively positioned with relation thereto, the yarn passing up from the cop through said guide-eye and thence forward to the tension finger, around which it may be wound according to the tension desired and from which the yarn passes to the spool.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is as follows:

1. Acop-holder forspooling-machines,comprising a longitudinal part or standard with an attaching formation, an arm springing from the base of said standard substantially at right angles thereto, a skewer pivoted to said arm,and an upper arm springing from the standard substantially at right angles thereto and extending outwardly therefrom an appreciable extent beyond the working position of the skewer; said upper arm having a guide-eye at its middle over said skewer and having at its extremity a laterally-extending and overhanging the skewer and having a guide-eye, and a tension device at the extremity of the said upper arm, substantially as and for the purpose described.
