Description

@WANN Imaan/Z077' Wnee/l,
THE GRAPH C C0 PHOTO LITH 3 HUH PARK PLACE N Y @nimh gister, stmt fiire.
D. R. G'OLD, OF -CHESTERTOWN, NEW YORK.
Letters Patent No. 65,902, dated June 18, 1867.
I'MPROVED WINDoW-sAsH.
TO ALL WHOM ITMAY CONCERN:
Be it known that-I, D. R. GOULD, of' Chestertown, in the county of Warren, and in the State of New York, have invented certain new and usefulimprovements in WindoweFraines; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear,- andV exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings7 and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
In the anneired drawings, making part of this specification, A represents the window-casingl or frame in which the sash is placed. d d represent two grooves, which are made in the casing, being made in each side of it just in advance of the front edge of the sash. B B represent the window-sash, upon three sides of each of which are secured the strips C C. These strips are screwed to the face of the sash, so that their edges project beyond the edges of the sash, and enter the grooves d d. By th'e entering of the edges of the strips in the grooves d d, the sash is held in its place in the frame, and air and water are prevented from penetrating or passing the joints thus formed. When it is desired to remove the sash one or more of the strips G are removed, and the sash can be easily taken out of the frame. The strips slide up and down in the grooves d d, of course, when the sash is'raised or lowered. v
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Pat-ent, is`
The strips C Gseoured upon the face of the sash by means of screws, in combination with the grooves d d in the frame, as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 20th day of April, 1867.V
i D. R. GOULD.
