i IMPROVED CARPET-STRETGHER.

Be it known that I, GEORGE MOSMAN, of Chicopec, county oi' Hampden, sind State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new und useful improvements in Carpet-Stretchers; und to enable others skilled in the nrt to make and use, I will proceed to describe the same, by referring to the drawings, in which the same letters indicate like part-s in each of the figures.

The naltnrc ofths improvement will be understood from the specification drawings. It consists in making the-jaw or jaws, which hold the tack, and the spring or springs, which yield to release the tack, both of the salme piece of metal. In the accompanying drawings- Figures 1 :und 2 are face: views of this improvement.'

The stretcher-platte c, with its teeth and the shank or-hnndle o, are substantially such as are in common use, thejaw or jaws d, (c springs, a es in my original patent,) are formed in one a-nd the same piece of met-al, or in two halves, d the hack end ntf which is secured to the plate c by n screw, rivet, or holder, ns may be desirable. In the manufacture of these stretchers I propose to form the recess for holding the tucksometimes in the end of the spring jews d, as shown in iig. 1, and sometimes by securing pieces of metal to the outer end of the spring-jaws d, as shown in fig. 2. `I also propose to east or form recess ,in the heel of the plate in for the reception of the back end of the spring-jaws d, and to secure sztid spring-jaws therein by 4means of a screw, rivet, Snc. I also propose to cast or form pins z', near the front end, as shown in iig. 2, between which to allow thejaw or jaws d to ploy. l
