TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CCNCERN:
Be it lrnown that I, DUNCAN MORRISON, ot' Portland, in the county of Cumberland, and State of Maine, have invented a new and useful Combined Cane, Pistol, Dagger, Umbrella, Seat, and Club; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, whichvwill enable others to make and use my invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming pari'l of this specification, in which- Figure 1 shows a longitudinal seotioniot` a cane' having within it a pistol, dagger, umbrella, and seat.
Figure 2 shows the seat when arranged for use.
'lhe parts comprising my inventionare combined as follows: The cane is divided at a, so that the top can be taken olf from the stock of the enne, When united, the stock or lower part slides into the top for a short distance, and there is secured by having slots which admit small knobs or projections, to hold the two parts together. This is illustrated at b. When the stock or bottom part of the cane is passed into the hollow of the top, the stock'can be secured by turning in one direction and removed by turning inthe opposite direction. In the hollow of the top of the cane is placed the pistol c, which can be removed byopening the hinged cover `OZ. Beneath the pistol, in the top`ofI the cane, is seen the cavity e, to receive the dagger Draw down the spring stop g, and the dagger can be pushed back into the cavity, and when the dagger is thrust out, as seen in the drawing, the stop g, being pushed up by the spring L, stops the cavity, and holds the dagger thus projecting I Intil the stop g is again drawn downward by the hand. In the hollow of the stock B of the 1a-ue is tted the umbrella c, folded compaetly. The stock ofthe umbrella reaches a little beyond the stock of thecane in which it is placed, lfor convenience of being withdrawn. The stock of the umbrella is also hollow, and in it is placedthe threelegged seat, lig. 2. when closed, (see m.) Upon the top of the cane atp is represented a weight, when the Vcane is to be used as a club, There are in this manner compactly combined the above-mentioned articles of defence, convenience, and protection. A
I do not claim any of the above-described elements as new Or separate, but simply their arrangement and combination, as described, in a cane.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination and arrangement, in the hollow of the top of the cane, of the pistol and dirk, operated and secured as'described, with the umbrella and seat in the Stock, the two parts of the cane being separable and capable of being united, all as and for the purposes' set forth.
