Description

NITED STATES FRANCIS A. 'HORLBL OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS'.
CABINET.
` SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 63.3,318,`dated SeptembervlQ, 189,9.
v Application tiled February 20.1899. Serial No. 706.250. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
lie it known that I, FRANCIS A. HORLE, ot Boston, county of Suffolk, State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement in Cabinet-s, of which the following description,
in connection with the accompanying draw-- ings, is a specification, like letters on the drawings representing like parts.
This invention has for its object the fproduction of a novel cabinet.
My cabinet consists, essentially, of an outer shell composed, preferably, ot a single piece of.
straw or other paper board scored\and bent to form a bottom, ends, and top, and a suitable back applied to said shell. The shell is divided by partitions to present a series of drawenspaces, each ot" which is lined byu'a liacket made as abox open at its opposite ends.
parts hereinafter to bc described. Fig. E2v
shows one of thebox-like jackets detached. Fig. shows one of the vertical partitions to be described.
In the manufacture ot' my improved cab-I inet I take a piece`ot paper or other straw board and score and bend it to form an outlside shell presenting bottom, top, and end pieces d, c b d. This shell -is then provided with a suitable back o, and the interior ofthe shell is then subdivided to form a series ofl drawer-spaces. In providing these drawerspaces I enrploy a series of longer partitions f, of strawboard, they being shown herein as .these drawer-spaces I insert jackets h, lcominto drawer-spaces, I then finish the 'cabinet by applying to it a cover m, preferably composed of ornamental or other paper or cloth, it being made to cover the entire outside of thefshell, vthe covering overlapping the exposed edges of the shell and the edges and ends of the partitions and alsothe ends of the jacketspso lthat the paper-board and jackets employed inthe construction ot' the cabinet 'are entirely concealed',
The covering m is shown as broken out at the front of the cabinet in Fig. 1 and someof therdrawers are removed, but portions ot' the covering are shown at m as concealing fully the method of construction devised for putting together the cabinet.
The drawers may be of any` usual or suitable construction, they preferably having flanges to partially overlap the division-walls between the drawerspaces.' The drawers have suitable rings by which to open them.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is Y.
1. A cabinet consisting of bottom, top and end walls, and a back; a series of longitudinal partitions located between said end walls;
a series of separated transverse partitions.
adapted to separate and to support said 1ongitudna'l partitions, the terminal ones bearing against said top and bottom respectively; a series of jackets closely tted in the spaces formed by ,the bottom, top, and end walls,
