Be it known that I, WILLIAM M. DOTY, of -thecity, county, and State of New Yorlr, here invented av new and improved lothes-Pin; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and eractdescription thereof, which will en eble others skilled in the art to marke and use the same,referencebeinghad tothe aecompanying drawings, forming part of this specification y f The 'object of this invention vis to .make a curable and self-adjusting clothes-pin or fastener'iu the simplest and least costly menneiyend to construct it so as to be strong and-.easily applied toorremovedi'ro ""ii`ne, as i may be desired, and not to be liable to cause freezing of fabrics to the line by holdngdempnesfs.

Theinvention consistsin the use of wire for the aforesaid purpose, the Wire being-so bentfasto possess not only the necessary spring, but also the clamping surfaces. I prefer to make this clothes-pin of onesingle piece of wire; but, if desired, it maybe made of two yor more4 pieces with the same effectif.'
