Beit known that we, CLEMENT L. V. MUND- IIENK and WILLIAM I. CHRISTIAN, citizens of the United States,residing at WestBaltimore, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mail-Pouch Fasteners; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and Ilse the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part ofl this specification.
Our invention relates to improvements in Inail-pouch fasteners, and has for its object the provision of simple and reliable means for fastening the liap to the body of the mailpouch, as will be hereinafter fully described in connection with the accompanying drawings, of which- Figure l is a view of the upper portion of a mailpouch, to which our fastening devices are attached. Fig. 2 is a cross-section through one of the fasteners and the mail-pouch. Fig. 8 is a detached edge View of one of the flapplates and bolt. Fig. 4 is a detached View of the main lock. Fig. 5 is a detached view of one of the covers.

Havingdescribed our. in vention,we claim- The combination with a mail-pouch, of a series of plates hinged together, and having each a spring-controlled pivotal dog, a series of sliding bars flexibly connected and having pins adapted to engage with said dogs, a series of plates attached to the flap of said pouch and each having a bolt to engage with a respective dog, and a series of springs to press said bolts outward when the latter are released by the dogs, as herein shown and described.
