Be it known that I, MONTY A. LYON, of Wisdom, in the county of Beaver Head and State of Montana, have invented a new and Improved Sack-I-Iolder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved sach-holder which is simple and durable in construction and arranged to permit of Conveniently placing the sack in position to support the same during the filling operation, the holder also permitting of readily shaking the sack whenever it is desired to do so.

The invention consists of certain parts and details and combinations of the same, as will be fully described hereinafter and then pointed out in the claims. p i

Figure l is a perspective view of the improvement. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the same, with the sack in place and the ends of the band released. Fig. 3 is a like view of the spring-band, with the sack in place for shaking the contents thereof 5 and Fig. 4 is an enlarged perspective View of the spring-band in an open position.

The improved sach-holder is provided with a segmental spring-band A, formed at one end with a hook A', adapted to engage an aperture A in the other end of the band, so that by pressing the band the latter is formed into a circle, and the ends are fastened together to hold the band temporarily in circular shape for placing the sack material at the mouth of the sack upon the said band. When this has been done, the two ends of the band are disconnected by unhooking the hook `A' from the aperture A to allow the band to open by its own resiliency andfirmly engage the mouth of the sack, so as to securely support the same, as is plainly indicated in Figs. 2 and 3.

On the band A and at or near the middle thereof is Secured a hook B, having its members extendin g first inwardly a short distance and then curved upwardly and outwardly, as is plainly indicated in the drawings, to allow of readily placing the mouth 'of the sack inwardly over that part of the band A on the inside of which the hook B is fastened.

The hook B is adapted to engage one of a series of supports O, formed one above the other within a channeled standard D, secured on its lower end on a platform E, on which is adapted to rest the lower end of the sack F, held with its mouth on the band A, as pre- Viously explained. The hook B is of such a length that when it is hooked upon the corresponding support C then the band A rests on the edges of the said members of the standard D to hold the band approximately in a horizontal position in front of the standard directly above the platform E, as is plainly shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The hook B is engaged with the corresponding support C according to the height or length of the sack, so that'the lower end thereof rests on the platform during the time the sack is filled.

Now it will be seen that by the arrangement described the hook B can be readily disconnected from its corresponding support O whenever desired, and then the operator by taking hold of the sides of the portions of the sack engaging the band can shake the sack so'that its contents can properly settle therein, after which the hook can be again Conveniently attached to the corresponding support C to'complete the filling operation of the sack. When this has been done, the operator presses the sides of the band A to again engage the hook'A" with the aperture A and temporarily lock the ends of the band together for Conveniently removing the mouth of the sack from the band A. The filled sack'is then removed from the platform and another empty sack is placed in position on the band, and the above-described operation is repeated-that is, the ends of the band are disconnected after the sack material is engaged with the band, as previously described, to allow the band to open up by its own resiliency and take a firm hold of the mouth of the sack at the inside thereofi Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure' by Letters Patent-- a 1. A holder for sacks and other articles, comprising a standard having a central support and side members between which said sisting of a band adapted to engage a sack or .the like at the mouth and engaging the side members of the standard, said. holder proper being provided with an attaching devioe adapted to engage the support.

2. A sack-holder comprising a channeled standard provided with supports located one above the other between the members of the standard, and a spring-band having a hook adapted to engage one of the said supports, with' the spring-band 'in contact with the members of the said channeled standard, substantially as shown and described.

3. A holder for sacks and other articles, comprising a standard having upright side members and supports located above one another in thespace between the said members,

and a holder proper consisting of a band engaging said side members and provided with an attaching device adapted to engage one of said supports.

4. A sack-holder, consisting of .a channeled standard provided With book-like supports arranged one above the other in the channel of the standard, and a spring-band for enga ing the mouth of a sack tohold it open, said band being provided at its middle with a hook for engaging one of the supports of the standard, the hook being first bent inwardly and then upwardly and outwardly, substantially as herein shown and described.
