Be it known that I, HANS FRAHM, of Omaha,

in the county of Douglas and State of Ne-j braska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Foldin g Window-Brackets and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to window-brackets;

and it consists, essentially, of a pair of bracketarms adj ustably attached to a window-sill and having supported thereon a platform composed of floor-sections constructed with under transverse strips forming grooves, and rising from the said floor-sections is a guard-rail to protect the person standing upon the platform.

The invention further consists of the details of construction and arrangement of the several parts, which will be more fully hereinafter described and claimed.

The object of the invention is to facilitate the washing of windows and provide a support for the cleansing utensils in a safe and reliable manner, the parts of the bracket as an entirety being separable and readily set up in I operative position or disconnected and stored in compact form.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a window-bracket shown in position and embodying the invention. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective View of one of the floor-sections, looking toward the under side thereof. Fig. 3 is a detail side View of one of the bracket-arms.

Referring to the drawings, wherein similar numerals of reference are employed to indicate corresponding parts in the several views, the numeral 1 designates a bracket-arm having a series of notches 2 in the upper edge of the inner part thereof for the adjustable engagement of the slotted member 3 of a securing-hook 4, adapted to engage the windowsill or adjacent portion of a window-frame for holding the arm in proper position. Near the inner end the said arm has an end notch or recess 7, and adjacent thereto a looped hanger 8 is secured to said arm, and therein is pivotally mounted a brace 9, having a buifer 10 of suitable material attached to the lower end thereof to prevent scoring or marking of the part of the building against which it may rest. The upper part of the outer end of the said brace engages the notch or recess 7, and the inner lower portion of the said hanger has the said braces bearing thereon to reinforce the positioning of the same, said hanger being arranged at an angle of inclination and having its inner lower portion cut away to accommodate such arrangement.

The outer end of the arm 1 has a keeper 11 secured thereon, and in the use of the device two of the arms constructed as set forth are employed. Over the said arms, when arranged in parallel position, is mounted an outer floorsection 12, having transversely arranged strips 13 on the under sides thereof, forming slots 14, in which the said arms are fitted to prevent lateral slipping of the'said floor-sec- The plurality of said cross-strips 13 and the institution thereby of a series of slots provide for adjustment of the said arms to windows of various widths. In the outer part of the floor-section 12 a series of holes 15 are formed, and adjacent to said floor-section 12 a similar inner section lG is mounted and has cross-strips and grooves arranged on the said outer floor-section. The inner upper portion of the section'16 is also formed with holes, and in these holes 15 are removably mounted 'posts 19.

At the time of the attachment of the posts in the holes 15 and 17 they are also inserted through eyes formed in canvas strips 21,which are carried up and attached over the top of the posts as shields and secured in position by sectional guard-rails 22. These canvas strips and guard-rails prevent exposure of the person standing on the floor-sections, as well as affording a means of safety to obviate fallin g therefrom or the displacement of the cleaning utensils and devices. The end guard-rails are shorter than those arranged parallel with the sides of the sections 12 and 16 and are first placed on the posts 19 and held in position by the said longer rails.

It will be seen that the floor- sections 12 and 16 provide a platform which can be disconnected and arranged in compact form, and, if desired, the bracket as an entiretymay be used for other purposes to which it may be found applicable.

The keepers 11 prevent the outer floor-section from moving outwardly over the ends of the arms.

It is obviously apparent that many minor changes in the details of construction and arran gement of the several parts might be made and substituted for those shown and described without in the least departing from the nature or spirit of the invention.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is- 1. In a window -bracket, the combination of bracketarms having hooks adjust-ably mounted thereon, braces hinged to said arms, and removable floor-sections having transverse strips running parallel With said arms and forming grooves 011 the under side of said sections, in Which the arms are removably fitted.

2. In a window-bracket, the combination of bracket-arms, and a removable floor-section having transverse strips thereon forming grooves on the under side thereof parallel with and receiving said bracket-arms.

3. In a Window-bracket, the combination of bracket-arms having notches or recesses therein, keepers on the outer ends of said arms, hooks engaging the notches or recesses on the arms, braces movably attached to and depending at an angle from the outer portions of the arms, a plurality of floor-sections extending across from one arm to the other and having on the under side thereof opposite series of transversely -arranged strips forming grooves parallel with and receiving said arms, said strips being arranged in series on each floor-section and the several series alining with each other when several floor-sections are adjacently mounted; posts removably mounted. in' the floor-sections and having top rails,and strips of canvas 0r analogous material held by said posts and rails.

4. In a window-bracket, the combination of bracket-arms, a series of floorseeti0ns removablylmounted thereon, having transverse strips arranged on opposite sides and forming grooves which are adapted to aline When several of the floor-sections are placed adjacent to each other to removably and adjustably receive the said bracket-arms, and an inclosure removably supported by the said floorscctions, substantially as described.
