SOAP-RECEPTACLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 605,976, datedJ une 21, 1898.
Application flied March s1, 1897.'
To all whom it may @o7/warm.
Beit known that I, CLARA SCHREINER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brownville, in the county of Nemaha and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Soap-Receptacles; and II do hereby declare the following to be a full,
clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in soap-receptacles; and the object of the same is to provide a casing in which the soap lmay be placed and its removal prevented, the receptacle being so constructed that the soap maybe used without being removed from the same, an attachment being provided for holding the soap in position for use within the receptacle.
The invention consists in certain other novel features of construction, all of which will be hereinafter more particularly set forth and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, Figure l is a perspective view of my receptacle, and Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same.
My receptacle consists of a back 1, the sides 2 and ends 3 of which are formed of wood or other` material, and attached to the same is the wire bottom 4. A door 5 is provided in one of the ends and is secured by a lock 6. Through this door the cake of soap is adapted to be inserted within the receptacle and the door locked to prevent removal of the same.
The board or strip 7 is positioned Within the receptacle, a handle S being attached to the same and passing outwardly through a perforation in the back of the box. Upon the end of this handle outside ofthe receptacle seal Nofsonti. (No man.)
is a knob Y 9. This strip is adapted to be pressed upon one side of the cake of soap and hold thesame against the wire bottom of the receptacle.
In operation the receptacle is held between the thumb and fingers of the hand, the fore- Vtingerpressing upon the knob to hold the soap in Contact with the wire bottom. In this position the soap may be used by rubbing the wire grating of the receptacle across the hand or object upon which it is desired to use the soap.
From the above description it will be seen that I have produced a very neat and efiicient receptacle in which soap may be placed to prevent its removal from hotels and other buildings, the soap being locked within the receptacle. The receptacle may be attached to the wall by a small chain, as will be readily understood.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A soap-receptacle, comprising a casing, a Wire bottom for the same, a door by means of which the soap is inserted within the casing, a means for locking the door, a board or strip within the receptacle, an operatinghandle connected to one side of the board and extending through the casing, and a knob upon the extremity of the operating-handle, the parts adapted to operate substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed this speciiication in the presence of two` subscribing witnesses.
CLARA SCHREINER.
Vitnesses CONRAD SCHREINER, WINNIE SCHREINER.
