SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Iatent No. 593,508, dated November 9, 1897.
Application filed March 20, 1897. Serial No. 628,399. (No model.)

Be it known that 1, JOHN G. ADOLPH BISCH- OFF, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Door-Mats, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming apart of this specification.
My invention relates to a cast mat.
My invention consists in features of novelty hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claims.
Figure I is a top or plan view of my improved door-mat. Fig. II is a longitudinal section taken on line II II, Fig. I. Fig. III is a transverse section taken on line III III, Fig. I.
The body or middle part of the mat is composed of longitudinal bars 1 and transverse bars 2, forming an open checker-work. These bars are Wedge shape in section, being thinner at their upper than at their lower edges.
Each end of the mat is formed of longitudinal bars 3, which are preferably extensions of the bars 1, and outer or end bars 4. The

I claim as my invention 1. A door-mat, consisting of a checkered body part composed of longitudinal and transverse bars, and an end part composed of notched longitudinal bars, substantially as set forth.
2. A door-mat, consisting of a checkered body part composed of longitudinal and transverse bars thinner at their upper than at their lower edges, and end parts composed of longitudinal notched bars, substantially as set forth.
